The only interesting coin in my birth year is the 1972 DDO Lincoln. One day I will find a nice looking example for my Dansco 7070.

I love the 57 & 58 mint sets. Not my birth year, but I'm trying to assemble some nice sets from these two years.

From a sealed 1952 Proof Box, Note the die polish lines on the coin.

I have not had good luck with coins from 1984. I'm still three away from the complete set, not counting proofs (which I have a suspicion I may be getting for Christmas image )

I have examples of two of the three, but they are not good and need to be replaced by better ones.

The one I don't have is a D mint Half Dollar. I have a complete set of my brother's birth year (1971) and I'm working on sets for my mom and dad (1952 and 1946 respectivly) I have now at least one example of each coin from 1952, but not both mints. For my dad I'm still missing the 46 Half and Quarter, any mint mark. I also need the D mint dime from 1946.

I'd really like to get a complete set of coins from Italy in 1900 as well, and give them to my mom. her favorite relative who isn't her kids was born in Italy in 1900.

  • Yes, 1969, but it's not my birth year.

Looking at rgCoinGuy's 1969 coins made me smile and think how I explained the age difference between my wife and myself to our daughter. image

    Me: See this 1969 quarter?
    Daughter: Yeah, so?
Me: The year this quarter was minted I graduated from high school and your Mom turned 10 years old.
Daughter: ummm................Jeez, that's just creepy. Get away from me, cradle robber.

    Good year '57.
Hangin' around the pool all summer. Oh yeah!

Here's one from my birth year mint set. I'm currently hunting a few more pieces for that set.

1957 is also my birth year, but my collection is mostly from around 30 years prior to that. I do like Franklin halves though.

Considering I collect mostly seated and bust coinage not much from 1970 excites me.

  • My birth year is 1956. I'm working on an uncirculated mint set in the PCGS Registry. I also have some proofs and some toners. The following Frankie is both a toner and a registry coin:

Oh Yes. 1957, my first real 'memory'. I remember my Dad holding me in his arms, outside the back door, and pointing out Sputnik, that little sattelite that the Russians put up. It was a bright point of light, and travelled from NE to SW over the sky.

    Yes, I remember that.

Coins....who can forget Lib BIE rity Lib BIE rity, that silly little die break error, put that silly word in my head for decades, Now, you have that silly little word in your head too. Lib BIE rity Lib BIE rity Lib BIE rity image

1957 is my birth year also. image when I first joined the forum and learned about registry Set's, I started a 57 Mint and Proof Set. I've since retired both. The Mint Set is #4 All Time and the Proof Set is #6 All Time. Here are coins that were in those sets:

you know thats not a bad idea I don't think I even have anything from 1870 but putting together a type set from that year would be fun.

I would like to put together a set of my birth year 1954, but it looks very costly to get all those full steppers, full bands and full bell lines.
  • Not my birth year but posted for those that are of this year.

I guess we don't have too many forum members
    from the 20's, 30's, or 40's
who are either interested in their birth year
or have forgotten when they were born image

  • I recently completed a -100 year birthset for my son, 1870, with a quarter from Rich Uhrich. It was fun working on, but now it's back to my Walkers...
