While the US was hot, will the dealers who cultivated relationships with foreign dealers fare better
Personally, I look at all markets (except for very local ones) as being global in one way or another. There is a book that describes this phenomenon, called The World Is Flat. I have not read this book, however, simply because in my previous job, all of the Corporate Suits I worked with carried this book around and quoted it like the Good News Bible. It annoyed me so I refused to read it.
The coin world, I believe, is global, too. There are many foreign collectors who collect US coins, and many US collectors who collect foreign coins. It seems that most US coin dealers, however, only transact in US coins. I can think of two board members/dealers who seem to have a robust foreign coin practice-- MrEureka and Mrearlygold.
While the US market was red hot, it was easy to focus on just selling to US collectors. However, for those dealers who built a solid foreign coin practice and developed relationships with foreign dealers and foreign collectors, will they fare better overall as the US market takes a slight downturn? Or would it have been better to make as many profits in the US market as possible, and create a cushion to ride out a slow-down in the US, rather than being too worldly?

My rare coin newsletter released last year suggested that all U.S. coin dealers should transfer as much business as possible to Iceland. (the current post was made from a secret hiding spot)
Longacre, ultimately I am compleled to ask - are you in the process of writing a book or something?
You certainly ask a lot of questions. Personally, I find this to be an admirable trait you have.
Your questions are always "out there" and you help people to think of things they otherwise probably would not!

I'm trying to get Dentuck to agree to a seven figure advance, but I am not getting too far.

I think he'd be happy to pay you that, as long as you don't cash the check
