Bags of 1974 Lincolns

WindycityWindycity Posts: 3,573 ✭✭✭✭✭
I have two mint sewn bags of 1974 Lincolns... should I open? What are the chances of finding any mint errors? No known doubled dies, five known cuds, possible high grade coins, possible other mint errors... open or not?

  • I doubt you'll find anything to justify the time spent going through them, but you'll probably still have fun.

I'd just throw them on eBay or something. Chances are, it won't be worth your time.

    Not much to look for.

There are large date and small date 74-P and D cents but nobody ever paid a premium for either, they never caught on like other years with different date sizes.

If my curiosity didn't already make me open them looking for errors I'd sell them sealed. image

  • If you decide to go through them, please let me know if you find anything because I have two bags of 1974. I started going through a bag of 1980, but after checking about 1300, I had to quit because my neck got sore and it gave me a headache. Of the ones that I did check, the only thing I found was about 50 with a clashed "Y" between the first two columns on the left side of the Memorial. That was more than two years ago, and the rest of the bag is still sitting here.

If you can pick out superb gem BU singles and get PCGS to slab them MS67RD then you'll have coins worth
$100/+ each (provided you don't saturate the population too much and use the ebay or Teletrade venue or
    even the BST.)
