Barcode Reader for PCGS coins

Anyone set up one of these with success?

I have purchased two different units.

Seems to work fine on scanning the Mint box barcodes, but has issues with the coins in the slabs.

Any suggestions?

The Dell Point-of-Sale system has a laser scanner that will read all TPG's UPC codes except some of the very early style with very short bar characters. Sometimes just angling the laser at about 30 degrees to the bar code helps on the PCGS holders. The nice feature of the P.O.S. system is that it allows for creating an external bar code label to be added to any coin holder for inventory control.

Creating new barcodes is a great feature! You can stick 'em on customers so you can instantly tell the good ones from the guys who waste your time. The bars can be printed on colored reflective stock so you can, for example, code the good customers "green" and then you can spot them across a crowded bourse. Bar coding customers is also a great way to see if they are spending money with other dealers and cutting into your profits. GPS clip-ons are still too big and expensive for customer service tracking.

(Also works well if you have a lot of girlfriends and have difficulty telling them apart. Just tell ‘em it's the latest designer tattoo fad, or something like that.)

I use a barcode reader that my brother gave me and it reads the PCGS bar codes just fine. It is as if it type the number using my keyboard.
