Does anyone know why the news editor of Coin World has been writing the editorials lately?
I usually read Coin World every week, and for the most part, it is a well produced paper. However, I have written in the past of my opinion that the editor in chief is getting a little stale, particularly as evidenced by the dreadful editorials that sully the pages of the paper each week. I noticed, however, that the news editor (?), who I believe if Gibbs, if I am not mistaken, has written the editorials for the last few weeks.
Does anyone know if this is a new procedure for Coin World, and will it continue?

Well, I hope she had a great vacation BUT she could take a permanent vacation from writing for the paper... sorry if that is too rough but that is just the way it is... her pieces would not be missed...
...and I wish she would stop defending her "Coin Values" people and get them to actually leave the office and do more than just shmooze and eat on the company credit card... and go find out what the REAL market values are for coins... They have gotten SO OUT OF TOUCH that, in many cases, the listings on the Heritage site don't even include Coin Values prices...
I liked it much better when it was a couple of columns long and was known as "TRENDS."
<< <i>After all the years of on the job numismatic training at Coin World for Ms Deisher. Coin World still doesn't have an editor that knows something about numismatics. >>
As opposed to, say, yourself???

For what little I know, I probably am better qualified.

An interesting statement. Please prove it with something that you have published so that we can compare.

I have published works but no need to prove anything to you.

Let me see if I understand this. You have made an anonymous personal attack on someone and said that your
qualifications are better than those of the other person. When asked to prove your assertion, you refuse. I think
we can draw the proper conclusions.

It was no personal attack. I just do not like or agree with a lot of her editorials. Maybe it is because she is not really a coin person. The editor of Coin World came into the job knowing nothing of coins. All her coin training is on the job. Her opinions are just that. When I said "for what little I know", if you cannot tell, it was a sarcastic answer to a stupid question by another poster. And I do have published works in several Journals which are none of your business. If you are a fan of Ms Deisher good for you.
If I were running Coin World, I would immediately restore "Trends" back to within the newspaper on a rotating basis and re-establish the BU rolls pricing.
The magazine format of Coin Values also has to go.
The higher prices of Coin World has got to be killing subscription renewals!
I would also try to show the coin collecting public that as a fine newsapaper, we would expect our advertisers to maintain higher ethical standards for our reading public. If our advertisers are not ethical enough to remain members of the ANA, then they would be barred from advertising within Coin World.
It is terrible that they allow Coast to Coast Coins to continue to advertise within Coin World. CW has absolute no moral standing when they allow such despicable advertisers to continue to do business and fleece the public.
I can say so because I made sure I bought a couple of things from Coast to Coast years ago to test them out.
All this from a subscriber from 1962 (with some breaks inbetween)!!
Last but NOT LEAST, I would STOP THE INSANITY OF SELLING AMOS COIN PRODUCTS AND COMPETING AGAINST MY OWN ADVERTISERS!
WHAT A CONFLICT OF INTEREST!!!
THIS TYPE OF CONDUCT BY CW AND ITS PARENT COMPANY IS WHAT IS KILLING CORPORATE AMERICA. WE MUST GET BACK TO DOING BUSINESS THE WAY OUR GRANDPARENTS DID BUSINESS. THE OLD FASHIONED WAY.

Oreville-- I agree. No wonder that you have a successful business yourself, as I am sure you run your business the old fashioned way. That sounds quaint in today's world where people are always looking to fleece the next guy, but I think the public appreciates good, old fashioned service and business ethics.

Indeed, over the past ten years, I have rediscovered the magic of pleasing the customers as well as your employees.
It is not easy, yet it is easy. Just treat them the way you want them to treat you.
A little paternalism or maternalism never hurts.
Another way you know your company is run the old fashioned way? Yank out the voice mail system (except after hours or when phone is busy) and give the job to a real human being. After all, human beings buy your products, computers don't!
