Will NGC clean up a coin that has turned in their holder?

Bought a high grade Wasington silver quarter yesterday in an old NGC holder. If I submit to them directly, will they try to have it looked at via NCS or just eval for a downgrade review? Appreciate the help

I don't know if NGC will but PCGS has done so for me several times. You have to send it in for Presidential review. I find it easiest to bring these problem coins in person to Long Beach and show them to Ron or Gordon directly.
  • Probably a mistake but I bought it for 250 less than the sheet.
  • Send it in under Appearance Review, and they should conserve it for free.

Hurry! If you go over to the CS Boards real quick, everyone will be partying in Ybor City, and they won't even realize that you snuck in.

Go to "Ask NGC" and post your questions and concerns. They won't answer immediately, but they will eventually.

    gemini,

I recently had NGC do an appearance review on an old holder peace dollar. They removed the disturbing surface material, but told me before they did it, that the coin might not grade the same. I said okay, and lo and behold, it came back in the same grade.

Paid shipping cost only. It took 6 to 8 weeks to get er done.

    good luck
