Here are clear instructions on how to get 20% cashback from MSN on ebay buy it now items.

Steps to get 30% cashback on Ebay via www.live.com
(it's now down to 20% as of 10/6)
I have had a few people ask me how to do this, and I'm sure there may be someone wandering about trying to piece together all the steps...So I thought I would just put this together, once and for all...
Live.com (MSN) is currently giving 30% cashback, up to a max of $200 per transaction on buy-it-now items only. It is ideal to look for something costing as close to $675 as possible, as the $200 max is about 30% of this and you are limited to 6 purchases (must be in separate online sessions). My first purchase was a $10 eagle.
Step 1) If you don't have a live.com account which was registered with your *correct* name, address, etc. then you will need to follow this link and make a new ID, to register for cashback. I already had a live account, but I went ahead and made a fresh one since I didn't use my real name when I signed up for my other live account.
Step 2) Make sure you are signed in to your Live account, and follow this link. You should then notice the "live search cashback" symbol with "You may get XX% off with Paypal if eligible" which leads to www.ebay.com, like so:

Step 3) Once you follow step 2's link into Ebay, you are now free to search for a PCGS 1808/7 Bust half, or whatever your heart desires. Make sure you are select to show only buy it now auctions, because only buy it now's are eligible. You must keep open the same window in which you followed into ebay from Live search, and you must make the purchase within 1 hour of clicking the link, so therefore it may be prudent to find what you want before you begin the process via Live.com. To verify that you are set once in Ebay, you will notice a symbol at the top of the Ebay page indicating you're in 30% cashback mode, like so:

Step 4) Once you enter the search string that brings up what you want, go into the auction and choose buy it now like you normally would...There are no special tricks you have to use, you don't have to stand on your head or do a magical dance.... Once you select buy-it-now, you will be taken to the "commit to buy" or confirmation page, where you will see the amount of money that you will receive in your cashback account. Make *sure* you see this, if you do not see this, you are doing something wrong and you shouldn't commit to buy. Like so:

Step 5) You must pay for the auction with Paypal, and you must use the Ebay checkout system only (if the seller uses their own checkout system, you will not get the discount so if it's a big seller make sure of this first).* After this, Ebay will send an automated message to your Ebay inbox. You *must* follow the 'get cashback' link within, and log into your live.com account:

Step 6) Now, you will have to wait a few days. You will then see pending funds in your live.com cashback account. After about 2 months, the money will be yours to withdraw to your bank account or Paypal.

edit: don't re-sell what you buy on ebay, on ebay. MSN may catch you and this is against the terms.

<< <i>You also have to make sure that the seller isn't using their own checkout page, it has to be through the eBay/PayPal checkout.

You are right! I left that out. Typically you need to look out for this with the big big sellers.

How can you tell this beforehand? Thanks.

I'm actually not too sure - You may be able to tell by just reading their payment instructions.....Normally it's only big big sellers who do that....if in doubt, ask em.
Good of you to post steps like that
I just got my 2nd (I've only used it twice) payment today...this one was for $250.
I've also sold 3 items for people using the cashback. I think it's pretty darn cool right now.
It's good for both sellers and buyers
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Thanks!
<< <i>POTD!

I agree with Rob -- POTD, and Thanks !!
Now, does this deal have an expiration date?
How are they defining a "session?"

<< <i>How are they defining a "session?" >>
I seem to remember that in the fine print somewhere.
I believe an "online session" is within one hour of when you navigated in from the MSN Cashback link provided above.
As hinted at earlier, it's a good idea to go on eBay normally, first, pick out some items and have them ready in your watchlist. THEN come in via the link.
I'm not sure about this, but I believe you can only get one cashback per "online session".
I made my first purchase, got the cashback notification in My Messages, then closed all my windows, came back here, bought two more coins, and got the cashback notification again (both of the coins I bought on my second trip into eBay were from the same seller. It added up the cashback on both of them, so it looks like I got credit for both.
This could be a really sweet deal if I had a little more dough to buy stuff, but even with my smaller purchases the cashback will be nice.
I'm not sure if my three coins count as two or as three purchases, though, with two being from the same seller. I only got two cashback messages, but it looks like I got credit for all three.
I might go back for more today.

I'm not exactly sure what the rules say about this, but I bought 3 items with the cashback within 15 minutes from the same seller last time around and got all 3 cashback in my PayPal.
After each purchase, I too logged out of ebay and closed all windows and restarted the process from the start. Seems like that may reset whatever an "online session" is.

My question is can you pay with a credit card through PayPal or do you have to do an instant transfer from PayPal or a bank account?
<< <i>Great info. I have been thinking about using this to buy a new camera but was a little sckeptical.

I'm pretty sure you can do either. As for the question what is an online session.... myself, i log out of everything, clear cookies and log back in. Probably a bit over the top, but I'm just being safe...

<< <i>I'm sorry if I missed this but is there a time limit for this 30% cashback?
Harry >>
Yep...it can change at any time.
When it first started, about 3 months ago, or so, it was 35%...for just a few hours (less than a day).
Then 25%, then 10%, 20%, 15%, etc etc etc. It changed with no rhyme/reason.
I am surprised that the 30% has stayed up for so long...I just haven't found anything I wanted to use it on
(I am not trying to do bullion just to flip....but rather use it for items we want)

Got silver eagle rolls at 258 each after rebate.

Edited to add: The Ebay email did show up a few hours after the transaction. Thanks.

<< <i>Ok last questions before I take the plunge. It seems to me you can open a MSN live acct before you bid? If not does all BIN gold coin on ebay qualify? And finally once I buy the coin will or where will I be able to sign up for the MSN cashback program is it sellers acct or do you get a message in your myebay. thanks for the help. >>
Read all the steps I posted carefully...there are explanations well hidden within explanations. I would recommend opening a live account before anything else. Once you get into ebay thru the link, you can search for whatever you want...just make sure it's a) buy it now, b) the discount shows up before you hit confirm, and c) the seller takes paypal and doesn't use their own checkout system
Cashback is not working for me, anyone else?? It has worked twice for me in the past but now I cant get it to show up on any buy-it-nows. No cashback symbol anywhere, I click on the link and see the "silver on ebay" with the 20% cashback but when I go to ebay (using that link) the cashback symbol goes away. Anyway for me to get this to work? i Need a coin.

Unfortunately I've never seen that symbol. I've followed the process to the letter, I've even run a browser with no ad blocker. I'm at a loss.
<< <i>EDITED: Got it to work, GOT THE COIN!!!!!, Saved $130, thanks msn live

I haven't gotten the cashback symbol to show up on ebay since it switched to 20%. I only did two deals.

I've used up all six of mine, but it still shows up when I do the search (I search for "gold buffalo"). In other threads, it has been recommended to clear out all your cookies and try again, you may try that.
<< <i>Will the cashback work for BIN's with best offers? >>
If you already bought the items without being signed into MSN Live I don't think it will work. You have to sign into MSN Live first and have the cashback logo on your eBay screen when you're searching and in checkout.

<< <i>Where does this payback money come from, and why are they giving it away?
TD >>
From the pockets of Bill Gate's money machine, Microsoft.
The why, is their search engine, live.com figures "bribing" people to search may work better than advertising other places I guess.

Won't work with Best Offer.
