Ron Guth to step down as President, and run Coin Facts--so who will be the new President?

Anyone care to guess who will be the new President of PCGS?

Hillary?

Romney?

Hope the new Pres. is related, and will entertain my Presidential reviews

Ron is a good guy. I emailed him not knowing who he was (on another website he was listed as contact)... he was nice and patient with my newbie questions, I didn't realize I was dealing with a numismatic luminary (and he didn't come off like one, or didn't have any airs about him)

    anyway...

just my .02 not related to the OP image

Well, it was top secret, but I have it on good authority that Longacre will be running the place. They figured he was doing such a good job on the boards that a promotion was way overdue.

Ron Guth is a truly great guy, and a very accomplished numismatist.

He is truly one of the class acts in the hobby of numismatics.

Have they even updated CoinFacts in the past 3 years? (I hope this is the coinfacts.com we are all talking about)

As for the NewP in the President position, I wouldn't have a clue who they would choose.

Ok. I'm on the train back from the Big City and I just saw this news. No one loves Ron Guth more than Longacre, but I wonder why someone would step down as president of PCGS and take the role at CoinFacts.

If I am being considered for the role, I have not heard yet. All deals go through my legal team but I have not had a chance to check in with them today. I will keep the boards posted, and if the comp is not high enough, perhaps I will throw a bone to RYK and let him have it. image

Ron Guth to Head PCGS CoinFacts Division

    - October 2, 2008
(Santa Ana, California) – Collectors Universe, Inc. announced today, September 30, 2008, that PCGS President, Ron Guth, would be changing his role effective October 1, 2008 to become President of CoinFacts.com, a unit of PCGS that Guth had originally founded in 1999 that offers a virtual encyclopedia of knowledge about almost all U.S. Coins.

As for the President's role at PCGS, until a new President is named, David Hall and Steve Mayer, Chief Operating Officer for Collectors Universe, will assume Mr. Guth's duties to allow him to transition to the new position. Guth will oversee the building and maintenance of web-based content for both the PCGS and Coin Facts websites and related publications.

According to www.compete.com, CoinFacts.com has over 95,000 unique visitors per month.

"I'm very excited about returning to my roots as a numismatic researcher and writer," stated Guth. "My intention is to mine the impressive database of information and images that PCGS has built since 1986 and present it in ways to benefit the numismatic community. For the past three years, I've had the opportunity to lead a company filled with some of the most talented people in the industry and I am honored to have been a part of this great team."

David Hall, President of Collectors Universe stated: "All of us at PCGS appreciate the fine job Ron has done as President of our company. Content, i.e. numismatic information, is extremely important in the numismatic market place. It's one of the reasons why we purchased Coin Facts from Ron Guth a few years back. We need someone to lead the charge in building even more numismatic information resources for the numismatic community and there's nobody better for this very important job than Ron. All of our friends and customers can look forward to some very exciting things happening on the PCGS and Coin Facts websites very soon."

I didn't realize that CoinFacts.com used to be Ron's website. I'm looking forward to see what they do with it.
