Please give me some feed back on my new listing on ebay
And when I say new I mean NEW. This is only my second listing and the first one was only two day ago.
Any critique would be appreciated, Lay out, text, pricing, mechanisms of buying used or not used, etc.
Good and bad criticism is most welcome. Like I said this is my first two listings ever, and I tried to learn from the CU
forums and what others are doing on ebay. not sure if I got it kinda right or Not.
Have not figured out the link process yet, but if your on ebay,
just type in (all categories) Abraham Lincoln/ Taft it should pop right up.
Thanks

It is from a seller with 412 previous feedback, not someone new.

He appears new as a seller.
Sorry for the confusion, I'm not new to ebay as a buyer but this is my first (second, including the one two days ago) plunge as a seller.
Template is fine - pretty standard.
The piece for auction is ultra-cool!

I see, I didn't look that far. I thought I had the wrong auction.
When you say to much info, do you mean regarding the Dr. Tory sale in June 2007?
I wanted to be forthcoming and let the potential buyer be fully aware of the history of this 1 of a kind item.
The price paid/ with the juice is their nfor all to see. I have noted that some of the Colonial and Classic coin dealers
routinely reference their items with like information, I suppose knowing that they picked up a prime piece that always will comand
appreciation. My problem is, I have the prime piece but I do not have the long term reputation in the numis industry to couple it with.
So I'm desiring that the piece stands on its own merit.
I could be wrong about this approach, but I really like and appreciate the transparency that others in the industry have shown.
And please, if i'm not addressing what you actually meant please let me know, because it was a good observation- that I questioned too,
the first time I seen dealers do it.
Here's why... With ebay you don't get the benefit of a month or so lead time of publicity for unique pieces like you do with auction houses. It is simply *WHAM* here is my spectacular unique piece (which comparatively few people collect) and its only here for 10 days. This, of course, isn't conducive to commanding a high price, and if you get no action then you've set something of an artificial ceiling for your piece. If however you BIN/Best Offer - you are likely to get some action even if it isn't sane action. People see movement and interest and that lends itself to getting yet more people interested in the piece, or getting some nervous about it slipping away from them at a price which they might have bested.
A piece like that isn't the same as selling say a "common" $20 Saint. In a 'saint-type sale' your purchasing options work, and I've seen them work very much to the sellers advantage when BIN *isn't* hit right off. I just don't think the same is true for a piece like you have up now.
I'm glad you elaborated on that. I see what your saying about the interest building aspect.
Especially like you said I get only 10 days. I would have chose the 29 day auction but the ebay system never offerd me that option.
The one item i listed just 2 days ago allowed me to list it for 29 days, so i'm at a loss why this option wasn't available on this one.
I went to the revision page but it will not let me change it to a BIN/Boffer format.
It seems fine to list it with a high price and a BIN. If someone places a bid the BIN will go away, unless you also have a reserve on it (which wouldn't make sense because you could have just increased the start a tad).
People like free shipping. You picked an unusual number for a start price. I would have just started it higher and offered free shipping.
I don't like the private bidder thing. These days the bidder's name is obscured anyway so I guess it doesn't matter.
All in all I'd say you are off to a good start!

more fitting patriotic setting. Also added a bit of info. If you have any other ideas they are appreciated.

Thanks for the feed back and your the second one that has hinted that ebay might not be the venue to
sale an item like this.
I wish it would have let me list it for the 29 days, one other forum member said it wouldn't allow
that because of the purchase options i chose. Tried to change it to a BIN with BestOffer but it wouldn't let me change it.
<< <i>There aren't many medals that sell on eBay at that price range. I just looked in the Lincoln category where you crossposted, and there aren't many Lincoln items that sell in that range either. I have no idea what that item "should" be worth... but it might be optimistic to count on finding a buyer on eBay at that price. Sorry! Good luck! >>
VERY NICE !! SH$T THOUGH!!
