I finally cracked the Top 20 in the Mercury Dime registry sets

It took awhile but I'm finally on the first page!! Added (2) decent ones today that I won on Heritage and Teletrade, 1931-D MS65FB (CAC certified to boot) and 1935-S MS65FB.

I thought I was doing good on my photography skills but then I tried taking some shots of one of my Mercs and it looked like I was starting all over. I did get a bunch of helpful tips that I need to try so hopefully soon I can start posting pictures. It is a neat sight pulling my set of Mercs out and seeing all those rattlers.

    Congrats on the additions image

I forgot about the rattler Merc Set you were working on.
That's quite an accomplishment to crack the top 20 with these type of slabs.

Please keep us posted, or at least me, with other additions you make to your set.
I love seeing the progress forum members make with their registry sets.
  • Congratulations! That is a tough catagory with lots of competition and lots of coins.
  • Cograts on the accomplishment! My registry set (Capped Bust Half Dimes with varieties) definitely has a lot less competition than yours.

I was very pleased, however, to qualify for 2 free grading vouchers for completing 90% of the set. I had really forgotten about this perk.

I would imagine that cracking the top 5 of the Mercury Registry would be an expensive proposition.

  • Congratulations on your accomplishment. It has been tough for me trying to stay in the top ten. The competition is brutal.

Those rattlers are over twenty years old. I'm wondering if it is still possible to complete a set of all of these holdered coins. Good luck!

If i hit 90% the grading vouchers won't do me any good. Unless I can convince them to break out the old rattler slabbing machine!!

That's very cool. I am certain that there must be some tough competition in a popular series such as Mercs. You likely have your work cut-out for you in order to move up or even to remain where you are over time.

I wish they would, I prefer these older smaller slabs and the plastic is much clearer as well.

That one is going to tough. I'm running out of the 'easy' rattlers.
