  • Looks like a good dbl clip to me; though the Blakesley effect dosen't show up at the opposite rims(that I can see), there's nice "stretch" in the letters at the clips.

looks like Blakesley effect right over DOLLAR, it just made the rim weak.

Unless it's a realy good fake I think it's real.

100% genuine, and quite unusual to have two clips of that size that close together.

Kinda hard to gage the value on that because the double overlapping clips are so unusual. I'm also not really in tune with the State Quarter error market, though as a 2005 dated coin it's worth more than (for example) a 1999 state quarter with a similar error. My suggestion would be to contact Fred Weinberg (via email, he doesn't answer PMs image ) or hope he stumbles across this thread.

    Good Mornin'

-State Quarter Clips (and the 2004-05-06-07 Nickels) have softened
    in the past few months.

I would say your Double Clip is worth $75-$125, or thereabouts.

Sean is correct - double clips of decent size, close together like yours,
are scarcer than normal double clips, but I'm not sure there's too
many collectors out there who would pay more than a modest premium
    for it.

And Sean, your right again - I turned off my PM deal on CU due to way too many
messages. I try to read these boards every few hours to keep caught up, but
I'm sure I miss a few Threads on errors that I should get.

cool find. I'm trying to imagine where this particular planchet was on the strip as to the closeness of the clips.....

    Fred,

I never get tired of hearing you tell me I'm right. imageimage

Now a follow-up question - in your opinion have SHQ quarter errors softened due to increasing supply or reduced demand? I don't know any folks collecting clips or off-centers by state, I wonder if like me, many have chosen to treat the entire ten-year run as a single "type".

    Sean,

I have collectors that are going for complete sets of
Quarters in: Off-Center, Double Struck, Clipped, and
    of course Clad Layer Missing.

Some States don't exist in O/C or D/S due to the newer
Schuler Presses in use at both Denver and Philadelphia.

Don't really know why the Clips softened somewhat, but
it's obviously due to lack of interest, or competition.

It'll probably be a few years before it's realized how
scarce they are, relative to other modern coins/error types.

    Look at this one!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Apparently it will bring well over $250.

I wouldn't want to be putting up the second
example found of this nice triple clip.
