In Yankee Doodle's Pocket: The Myth, Magic and Politics of Money in Early America

I stumbled across this book while researching other information on the C4 site and thought it would be of great interest to those collectors of colonial and early Federal coins and world coins circulating in the early US. I have not seen it mentioned on this forum before, nor have I seen it discussed on esylum. The author is not known to me.

It can be purchased from Stanton Books or the Bowmanstone Press.

No doubt, Longacre will be in a frothy frenzy over the details of the paper stock, binding, printing, and such

, but some of the rest of us might actually be interested in the content. I have ordered my copy and will report back once I have received the book.

I saw it in the E-sylum as well. I clicked on the link, and ordered it on the spot.

Looks like a great book. Oh, and the E-sylum offered a discount code you can use to save a couple of bucks.

I started reading it last night and was very impressed. It is in excellent blend of history and numismatics that will only serve to enhance one's interest in pre-Federal and early US history and coins. For example, the section on the Pitt token discussed the sociopolitical climate in the US in the 1760's, the Stamp Act, William Pitt's response to the colonists' complaints, and then goes on to discuss the numismatic aspects of the Pitt token. As I browsed, other sections were similarly arranged.
