I'm glad the coin went to your collection instead of eBay and God knows who.
I bought that coin at the Denver ANA a few years back from Dick Osburn. It was then in an ANACS MS61 slab. I submitted it to PCGS and it got body bagged. I then sold it to Barndog as my collection is all AU and the MS coin was a bit of a fad for me. He resubmitted it to PCGS and the Gods were in his favor this time, it was accepted and graded mint state.

Cladiator, why did that coin get bagged? Let me guess- "altered surfaces" or "cleaned".
You're posting some monster half dimes today, BD- did you just get some photos back from MGM3?

I honestly don't remember. It was some time ago and my memory isn't all that great..too much "fun" in high school if you know what I mean. I know it wasn't cleaning. I do remember it surprising me that it was bagged. Let me see if I can dig up the info for you...
<< <i>By the way, is the other mint state coin the plate coin or a different one? >>
the other MS coin is now NGC MS-61 and is the plate coin...housed in a SDB in Tennessee.
<< <i>Ok I took a peek through the records I have online and all I can find is that the submission was on 6/14/2007. If I had to guess as to why it was bagged I'd say either altered surfaces or possibly from scratches. Maybe BD remembers... >>
no
I still seem to forget that these coins are only just half-dime sized, and not half-dollar sized.
The color portrayed by your awesome images is incredible too.
Congrats
Seriously though, very nice looking coin.

Not really, NGC did that to me on a submission a couple years ago. All of the coins were crusty original save for one with some obverse scratches that I thought may well yield a BB. NGC bagged em all!! Last time I used NGC. BTW, PCGS got it right when I then sent the coins (save for the scratched one) in to them.
<< <i>Would be AT if submitted lately
Seriously though, very nice looking coin.
