    i don't really think they were ever lost anymore than they were ever really, really certain where they were going. in a strange way, Lewis and Clark knew if they followed the Missouri drainage that they'd eventually come to the continental divide, then it was a simple proposition of following another drainage down till they reached the Pacific. they knew what they were doing, where they were going and how they'd get there, they just had no idea of what the destination was.

    BTW, nice medal. i'm assuming it's the bronze??

    looks more bronze to me, the coppers i have seen and owned all were/are a much darker, chocolate brown.
