Show us your Long Beach pickups and share your thoughts on the show

I just got back and took a few quick images and wanted to share.
I arrived late today, around 1:30pm. I usually make it early in the mornings but had to get a few
things done first.
Made my usual submissions at PCGS. Showed David Hall a few coins.
and headed over to the NGC table to submit some other tokens and medals I had.
I have never been to the LB show so late in the afternoon, but to me it seemed quite slow
as there was no wait at NGC and only one person in front of me at PCGS.
The floor was wide open instead of shoulder to shoulder as it had been in the past.
I may have just been lucky and picked a slow time of the day
I went to the dealer where I was to pick up my new Conder and browsed very quickly
and left.

This is the Oddfellows Token minted in 1795 showing the head of the British King joined with the head of an ass.
I think its quite fitting for today's times, don't you

A quote that is every bit as relevant today as it was when it was first said.
First person who correctly states the American this quote is attributed to and when they said it gets the 1830 half dime I have on the BST free of charge.

i never saw anything before like that token! interesting.
It does have very strong proof like surfaces and has some very nice color
which I am having a difficult time capturing. An I just love the die crack on the reverse

<< <i>Just scored from Heritage... NGC MS65. Just thought it was really cool because the S mintmark is upside down. No clue whether that is rare or common, but like it said, it's cool!
Those blast white Barbers always look like fakes to me. They just look weird without that circulated Barber look that we see all the time.
Don't get me wrong, it's gorgeous, just never looks right to me
Now if only someone could put together a matched set like that! WOW!
commoncents123, JrGMan2004, Coll3ctor (2), Dabigkahuna, BAJJERFAN, Boom, GRANDAM, newsman, cohodk, kklambo, seateddime, ajia, mirabela, Weather11am, keepdachange, gsa1fan, cone10

At the Long Beach show today, at the Heritage table on the main floor they were showing the Friend Barber Half Registry Set that is going to be auction at the FUN show in early 2009. Lots of 65s, 66s and 67s. Was awesome just to look at!!! Will bring strong $$$$$.

One of these SVDB's is from Brandon KElly, and another from Mark Feld, yee hawwww
<< <i>Way to go folks !!!
One of these SVDB's is from Brandon KElly, and another from Mark Feld, yee hawwww
You told me before the show opened on Thurs about your Feld purchase so I dont think it counts as a LB pick-up.
Kidding aside I these at the show and they are very nice. THe 2 64RB's are very nice.
I paid quite a bit more for the 1897. The two coins are virtually twins, both MS64 in old ANACS holders, with nice rim toning. I rationalize by telling myself that attractive 1897's are a lot harder to find than 1883-o's. I also bought some inexpensive UK coins.
I was part of the lunch crew. Thanks Bear.
Here's some of what I bought today. I guess I like the 1909 dated coins as well
Here's some close ups I just took too:
1909 IHC PCGS MS66RD - from Angel Dee's Coins and Collectibles. I think it's a solid 66RD. Most of the marks in the pics are scratches/dirt fresh from the show
1909 25c PCGS MS65 - from Type Coin Company
1909-D 25c PCGS MS64 - from Michael Aron Rare Coins (was thinking about bidding on the Heritage lot, but didn't like that there was a scratch on the face of that one, then I saw this one and pulled the trigger)
1909-S 50c NGC MS65 (w/ an upside down mint mark) - from Heritage (and w/ my own non-cartoonish pics)
Didn't really pick up that much else other than some supplies. Again, was a good show (see the coins above

without seeing the auction I like this one better

bullion piece. It is too large to be a SCD and
it is a copy, enlarged of a gold coin. thus it
is not a coin.

Wednesday pre-show purchases...
Picked me up a 64' 2 center with some nice original red in it. A dealer graded it AU+, but I had Ron from PCGS look at it and gave it a 63BN.
I also acquired a nice original BU 98' Barber dime from the same dealer, and Ron also gave it a 63.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
And Abe "Bear", thanks for the lunch, and showing me your So-called $ collection... Let all try to do it again at the next LB show.
