We have been lucky so far had 75MPH wind earlier and the power flickered a few times but never went out. What about LSU in Shreveport they got hit pretty hard earlier? I have some relatives in the Houston area I have not been able to contact either.

Isn't Gary in Galveston now?

I sure hope Ross got the heck outta dodge before the hurricane came ashore. The winds had to be totally nutballs to shatter 30 stories of windows on a skyscraper.

i don't know him but i was in a trade with him. he pm'ed me and said all the post offices were closed and he was probably going to lose power. not in a big hurry for my cards there just a few base a&g cards for my set.

We had no power for days a few years back, let me tell you, it sucks, especially when its 95 outside. Gas was almost 4 bucks a pop here today
IF you could find it. Im sure Ross triple zip-locked the Thomas collection before he left. See you on the other side buddy!

It wasn't so much the wind that damaged the JP Morgan Chase building windows. It was the pea gravel on the roof across the street that did the damage. Above that building there was little damage. The gravel was blown off of the roof and through the windows from floors 30 down. Not making light of the storm, but setting the record straight. The windows are designed for heavy winds, not bullet like rocks.

chicago has had non-stop rain for almost entire weekend.

i wonder if climate changes or whatever are making hurricane season more of a reality for us now?

Ross is in Houston and told me Thursday or Friday that he had to stay and ride it out becuase of his and his girlfriends work commitments. Hope he is OK. We had some pretty nasty weather here yesterday but nothing too major. Worst thing that happened at my house was my son's trampoline was flipped over.

I surveyed some of the damage here today. We had a gust come through about 6PM last night that was reported to be about 90MPH. I have a double roof on my house a tin one over the original frame one. Part of the tin roof blew off. Saw where a car was driving doesn the road and got hit by a falling tree.

Just wanted to say thanks for everyone who attempted to check in on me. Finally got electricity and subsequently internet back in the last few hours. I was awake watching the storm with electricity until later Friday night/early Saturday morning. From about 3 am to 9 am it was pretty heavy. We were really lucky in my apartment complex, other than 20 or so trees being pulled up, these brick buildings did well. Some siding ripped from the gables, lamp posts broken, high water here and there, leaks, but a lot worse damage out in the neighborhood and further into the city especially. I still haven't heard from some friends in Galveston, but I'm pretty sure they got out. Cell phones are texting pretty well, but making calls is pretty impossible in this area.

We did indeed have to ride it out, my girlfriend is part of the first response team at St. Luke's Hospital, and I have to be here to do the bidding of our clients on the Port of Houston, although it's pretty impossible to get there. My understanding is there aren't major security breaches on the Port though, I would have been called in if there had been.

We still have 40000 people in rural Bowie County without power and not expected to have it back until Wednesday or Thursday.

Here in the Cincinnati area we had 60mph sustained winds with gusts up to 80mph. Over 600,000 households were w/o power as of Tuesday am. Mine came back on about 1130 pm Monday. I heard on the news that some people won't have electric until the end of the week. My insurance company said that Ohio was hit so hard that the stormteam would be sent to the area to access the damage. My shed was totally destoyed and most of my skirting is gone but everyone is OK and that is the most important thing. What's next ? Tornadoes are one thing but this event was just weird.

The last time I heard from my family near Hamilton, they were still without power as well. It's been a heck of a half week for weather. My cousin is to be married Saturday, hope it doesn't affect her big day.
