1956 D Lincolns with a misshapened "6"

Images are of three different 1956 D Lincolns.Is the "misshapen 6" a die variety or something else? I see no damage to the rim near the "6" on any of the coins.These three coins were pulled out of an accumulation of some 1200 coins all dated 1956 D.

    It's from a coin counter or roll sealing machine.

    Spadone would list these as "broken numbers" in his book (when times were more simple). They are definitely PMD.

    Damage from one of those machines that curl the paper down against the end coin in a roll.
