    What kind of lights are you using?

    Looks to me like you have a single light coming from the left side.

    Add another light directed at the coin from the upper right corner.

    Move the lights in closer to the camera, as close as you can. Right against the lens. Don't melt the lens.

    Your correct, one right by the lense another off about 4:00.

    If you have two lights, leave the one at 4 o'clock there and put the other one at 11 o'clock. You should end up with two 'luster bars' and not one.

    So about 180 degrees from each other?

    Not a full 180. Somewhere between 90 and 135. I guess by 11 o'clock, I meant to say 1 o'clock. It's a fine art to divine what I meant based on what I say.

    How about a picture of your setup and placement of lights relative to the coin?

    The coin is not parallel to your lens, that would be a start as you can see some blurred sections compared to other areas that are in focus. Try putting the coin on a small box and using dimes in the corners to try and even the coin out in your viewfinder.

    Or just turn your camera/lense a little so it's parallel to your base/coin.
