Post a Neat, Inexpensive Error

airplanenutairplanenut Posts: 22,562 ✭✭✭✭✭
A lot of the errors that tend to get attention are a bit pricey. So here, post an error that was inexpensive... perhaps an on-a-whim purchase because the coin was neat and seemed like a bargain.

I'll start with this clipped Peace. You don't see many that are clipped, and for a low price, how could I say no?

I sold the IHC, but have kept the Washington Quarter. Both were purchased for $10-20 on eBay.

Mis-aligned Dies and Partial Collar. Half of the edge toward the reverse is reeded with the other half plain...also called a railroad rim.

Something that a non-specialist would buy on a whim because it looked cool. I'd say for this perhaps under $250. Under $50 is even better image

I have a blank steel planchet, really doesn't look like much, kinda rusty... only way you can tell for sure is that it's magnetic.

Oh yea, I also have a steel planchet webbing, can't remember the size, but it seems to be about 5x8 or so from what I remember.

I think most of the steel cent webbings are about the same size...

I bought this on ebay several years ago:

Wow, we must have bought from the same guy. Haven't seen another for years. I saw one somewhere, I think it was on Fred Weinbergs site? Could be wrong there. Was smaller and higher price than I paid. Not saying it's not worth it, seems to be rare and no one who has one seems to be selling. Here's mine:

Marty - I remember that lot, I think I bought a bunch of the left-overs including some O/C dimes. If I knew then what you'd paid for them I'd have sent you a giant lollipop with my check. $2.50 for that indented half is obscene.

Anyway, none of these cost me more than $100, most much less:

...and finally, this one cost me exactly $100:

This off-center/indent Lincoln (bronze) cost me $7 about two years ago.
    image

The bowtie indent dime cost me $35 six/seven or so years ago. Both buyer and seller agreed this is likely a bargain.
    image

This uniface clip Jefferson cost me $45, but around 1995, maybe earlier.
