1912 matty photo contest-update-last man has imaged-

my set registry is one that has a sub-tribute to pcgs member imaging skills as each one of my matty's is to imaged by a different member

this 12' is in dire need of capturing it's beauty...it's still incoming and this is a no rush job at all

so far russ,robec,commoncents05,mgoodm3 and becoka have complimented

anyone upto to this challenge as i truly desire a top notch image

here's best current image so far...it's beauty just needs better justice

Looks like a fun challenge. There are still many you have not had a chance to work with that coming along nicely thanks to Marks book.

If it turns out to be one, i'd love to take a shot at it. I've never imaged a MPL before. And photo contests are fun, no prize needed!

Teddy, I haven't taken any images of your 1912. The one MPL of yours I have imaged is the 1911. That would be a good one for your contest although I would enjoy the prospect of trying your 1912.

this will be a photo contest to those whose already replied...i get too skerred when my baby's leave home ok
russ may have caused that with his lil "are matty's are hot" post when he had all of mine in hand...lol

i'll come up with a poll when images are all in....the one who acquires most votes...they'll win like $100 in cash or better...i like to see people get cash to buy coins ok...sound like a plan

all of you must know this though...speety has first shot if he pulls off one of his "gif's" as i'd cheerish one of those being in my set registry by him

my set isn't nothing big with humble lil pr64r/b's but i'm sure through time many will enjoy if they do at least look at them and catch that every matty in my set was imaged by a different member here

imho though...a gif by speety or bob's lengthy experience and mastery at colorfull matty's...i'd be so lost

then to even think...i've no clue on what you all could do in contest fashion...but hey if you're in...we'll do this

Another PM is being sent with my address.

If any other forum member that's in this 'contest' take multiple pics of the coin showing it's different looks, i'd be happy to merge them into a GIF. Being my first try at a MPL, I have no clue how my pics will look but i'm looking foreward to the challenge!

this post of mine turned interesting to say the least

uh let's see the risk exposure to this 12' traveling now to several spots across this great kountry

but darned it...commoncents has done many great things for me...i'd think paul should have his shot...what say this crowd

but then dizzy...hmmm....dizzy even has paul skerred...hmmm...what say the crowd on dizzy...shoot i thought robec would of skerred the field away

oh and then...mind you now speety lays offer to convert anyone's images into a gif

what ever happened here i'm thinking is too sweet to of been then thought up by me

just so no one has to look it up...here is robec's image of my 11' that i fully believe is nailed beyond belief

Actually, the GIF idea is a great idea! The fact is, my one and only MPL, which I no longer own

That coin even though in low grade (62) was absolutely amazing. Kinda reminds me of the holographic coins that Canada puts out. Different angles different colors. They are gorgeous coins and I wish I had the patience and money to put together a nice set!

I really like the gif idea as well. Depending on the light and the rotation of the coin to it, the amount of different looks that the coin offers are limitless.

I have been looking for some programs that allow for fading in GIFs but i don't know if it's possible in GIF format. I think the next best thing is very quickly flipping through many images with only minute variances in luster rotation. The problem that you run into is the file size quickly gets huge! hmmmmm

As far as your last question fading in and out. Yes you can do that. It just requires more frames in between each image at different opacities. The smoother you want it the more frames you need. Easy in CS3 more difficult but doable in Elements.

As for the smooth fade, how big of a file do you want? It'd wouldn't be too bad to do, sort of time consuming, but my biggest concern is the size of the resulting file. Also, i don't think the fade effect will give you the result that you desire. Nothing short of different images at each seperate tilt location will give you that -- which may require a hundred shots. IMHO, a couple second delay with 4-6 images is about as good as it'll get without getting too complicated and too large of a file.

contest guidelines

4 image 500x500 pixels each...approximate sizes

1 obverse and 1 reverse straight on in hand look <---- $50. prize

1 obverse and 1 reverse angled or juiced look <-------- $100. prize

one mystery prize will be on a random number selection--unknown to all---till the envelope is opened

Images are to be posted by entrants in both select the best shot thread polls (1 for straight on winner...1 for color or angled shot)

1 week after the coin is shipped back to lasvegasteddy from the last participant 2 poll's with the images will be setup.

Images will be posted in a 2x2 matrix with a random number assigned to each entrant for the poll.

Winner will be announced based on the poll rankings after 7 days.

this matty is at stop #2 going to #3 soon

Being primarily a card guy, the title of this thread caught my eye. Matty is one of the greatest pitchers to ever play MLB. His playing years were 1900-1916. Notice the PGCS slab for the PSA sports pin.
