PSA registery participants.
If PSA made it so you could add SGC,BGS, and GAI cards to the registeries would you welcome the change or be upset by this? just curious..

I think it would also be a programming nightmare for PSA and it would probably make things like getting new sets added to the registry, getting new cards added to sets, etc. take forever.
I think for cards it would be difficult to combine different companies onto one registry because of the variety and the variables in all the respective grading scales.

<< <i>do the different coin grading companies use the same grading scale? >>
Coin grading is very similar to cards. Just like cards with PSA, BGS and SGC, with coins there is PCGS, NGC and everybody else. Grading systems are even very similar with edges and surfaces two of the key components.
I like the idea because each grading company has had and will have, ups and downs in grading consistency and in the overall quality of product they put out.
When one company is not doing that well, it would be nice to be able switch to another that is doing a better job at the time.

<< <i>Are there many collectors who do a graded set of mixed and matched grading companies?? >>
Whether on purpose or through purchases, I think it happens a lot. I'm sure a lot would prefer not to crossover.
Reason I asked is because on the beckett Regsitery you can now add PSA.SGC. and GAI graded cards to the registeries over there..
My opinion is it's not fair for the Beckett guys who have registeries. One reason is this...
If you go to ebay and do a search for say 1988 fleer basketball graded PSA 10 there's 30-40 different cards to choose from any given week. Do the same search but BGS 9.5 and I think there has been to total of 5 cards this year..
So If a guy has been working on this set for 4 years and is #1 on the BGS registery no matter what he wouldn't be 100% because not every card has had an example graded 9.5 yet. So If a person who has a 1988 fleer set in PSA 10 at 100% (I think there may be 5?) could enter his set and knock down others..this Just doesn't seem fair.
This can be said about nearly every set as there is WAY more PSA graded material on the market..
There's many more reason I can bring up why I think it's a bad move by them, But I'm suprised to see how many people say they would not mind it...

Very good points and that does not seem fair to someone who might just be collecting BGS graded cards to have someone with PSA graded cards knock them down.

that's fairly accurate except coin grading is probably at least 50 times more difficult than grading a sportscard
Yes, however PCGS coins are considered 'stronger' then those graded by NGC.
When it comes to modern coins the disparity is even greater.
If I was to compare it would be PSA is to SGC like PCGS is to NGC.
(From post war and up that is)

Yeah no Kidding huh...
I don't know I just feel it's the dumbest thing I have seen as far as registeries are concerned among the big 3..
Seems like interest would be lost to crossover, submit cards (when you can already find them holdered by another company) And start new registeries...
I was looking at a few registeries earlier there is only a few up as of now due to collections still switching over but I noticed a few PSA board members cards already entered..
If you can figure out how to navigate there horrible site to say the 1989 score football registery
Rexvos (spelling?) is number 3 with PSA graded material....
As for how BGS registery guys are concerned..There's not one happy camper I've seen on there boards and A few "big dogs" are even thinking about dumping there stuff and crossing over or starting new with PSA or SGC...

<< <i>Dizz, you got a link to the registry homepage? I can't find it. >>
Hey Matt, Here's a link to the 1989 score football registery..
LINKY
Not sure if you have to be logged in to view or not??
ALSO... Something else I just noticed that's very interesting.. You get 10 points for a PSA 10 and you get 9.5 points for a BGS 9.5
So the only way to compete with a PSA 10 registery would be to have all BGS 10's lol....
