Thoughts on Black Rawlings Baseball Autographs

Guys, what are your thoughts on the black rawlings baseballs? They are quite hard to find right now, but I have been lucky enough to find a bunch and I have been working to get MLB HOF players to sign them in a very fine silver sharpie pen.

I've attached a picture so you can see. I am trying to find out how long it will hold up for, if its more of a collector thing or if these have value more than the normal MLB ball that everyone has signed.

Personally, the look of them with the silver autographs looks great if the player takes his time and the silver is thin enough. That being said, I think in the future, that the standard MLB signed balls will have more of a value to them then the black baseballs. I see the majority of the collectors wanting the official item used in games rather than a variant of that.

They do make striking display items though.

    Take care,

gimmick which won't last IMO; highest value in the long run will always be OMLB with an blue pen signature on the sweet spot

  • seems to be the general opinion... I have always done this as a collector and sell very rarely so I am doing it for display purposes. I see your point though.

    They do look awesome though!

If I were an Oakland A's fan though, I'd like to get some of those orange baseballs that Charlie Finley tried to use in the 1970's, and have them autographed by the A's stars. Those were coolimage
