BBCE group break w/ hockey and golf added

Received a few PM's lately asking about another group break. Just curious to see how many are up for another break and if so what years? Wouldn't mind doing a full case of something and everyone gets a full box or two.

I would be interested, no real preferences though.

81/83 Topps Boxes. I want to put together sets of each. If we all bought at the same time we could help each other out and find some graded cards in there.
  • Like I told you Mike, I would love to get a 1983 Topps baseball case. However, BBCE just raised the price of a sealed case, not that there's anything wrong with that.
  • $99 a box plus shipping and insurance. Would have been $85 per box before National. Guess he sold a few while he was there.

What the heck, count me in if you do a baseball rip. I need some raw cards in my life.
  • I am down this time.....not sure what we could open.

I wouldn't mind some 87 Donruss or 89 Upper Deck.

Yes, and I owe prscott some cards so lets make sure I get a couple copies each of all the good cards image
  • I don't think I will do another 83 box after the Michigan Test box break a long time ago

I would be in for 1983 Topps or 1989 Upper Deck.

The reason I like 81 is it's cheaper (and we would get Cello boxes) - and there are good number of low pop commons. The Henderson is tough to find in a 10, Raines should get into the HOF in the next 10 years (at least Peter Gammons thinks so) and I don't have a full set of it myself. That's why I would say that one.
  • If we could get them all sold out, we could do a case of 1983 Topps baseball and a case of 1989 UD if Steve didn't sell them all over the weekend. If we can't get enough interest in the other sports, I would like to do the 1978 baseball box again.

Now I am being persuaded by the hops and barley. How about a monster group rip with the above mentioned cases a box of 1978 baseball, a box of 1981 or 1984 football, some more 1981 golf and throw in a random pre-1988 basketball box?

  • << <i>and I don't have a full set of it myself. >>

I will gladly trade you a minty fresh 1981 Topps set for one of those Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus autos you have laying around.

Just to add to the 81 Low pop theory

    Yastrzemski 10's - 9
    Fisk - 5
    Bench - 1
    Henderson - 14 (out of 1059 Subs)
    O Smith - 39 (out of 690)
    N Ryan - 10 (out of 1486)
    Valenzuela Rookie - 0 (out of 346)
    Kirk Gibson rookie - 0 - (out of 111)
    Baines rookie - 12 (out of 676)
    Winfield - 1 (out of 108)
    Raines rookie - 28 (out of 1090)
    Schmidt - 16 (out of 611)

Edited to add to LSU: Unlikely my friend, unlikely
  • I have never opened a box of 81 Topps that might be fun. Very hard set to get high grades on.
  • I definately want in on the 84 football. Also could be interested in the 89 UD and golf, depending on price. When will this be official, as I don't visit here everyday(maybe evry other day). I don't want to miss out like last time.

I like that list. I would definately be interested in the boxes and some of the packs as well. I like the variety. A little something for everyone.
  • I'm down for a couple of packs of hockey...maybe some football too.

I hate you friggin' people!! I guess it's my own fault though since I keep reading these posts and getting in on these.
I'd be in for a low# box of the 89 Upper Deck for sure. Might even do a couple packs of the golf since I didn't get in on any of those last time.

After the crappy pull I had on the last one I think I will pass and pick up a few boxes of the A&G and try and swing and miss on those. I suck at opening packs. image

Well, since I can't convince anyone on the 81 baseball I guess I'd do an 83 Topps box.
  • I would like to get in on a box of 1989 UD if I can. Thanks!
  • I like the idea of 89 score.
  • thats a lotta scratch for $250. damn.

a couple sold recently on Ebay for $150- $160.

If we do go ahead with it, put me down for a box of 89 upper deck and a box of 1983 Topps. I'm sure I'd be in for some packs as well when we decide on those for sure.

  • << <i>I'd be in for 1989 Score Football >>

I forgot about the 89 Score. That would be a much more affordable idea than the 81 Topps. Plus, we have already done that one. Still waiting on a response from Steve. Will post as soon as he replies.

I would do the 89 UD or the 83 Topps baseball too.
  • Bill,
Thanks once again for getting this together, I haven't seen any Basketball mentioned, would be up for that and any early 80's Football, especially Topps 84. maybe even a Golf pack or two just for giggles.
    No baseball here though.

I would be interested in Baseball packs from 1976-1983. Would take 3 each from any of those years, except 1980 which we just did.

    Thanks!

Does that mean that 1983 baseball is only available by the box in this Break, rather than by the pack?

    Thanks!
