That is 1 card fandango, and yes it occured. No doubt!

Now, please go check the 75' mini thread, for multiple cards that had to be bought back due to trimming issues. It's a hobby problem, not just one grading company or the other.

Read about 12 posts down... LINK

The top guys on the 75 mini registeries are lying I guess.

If people continue to call bs and look the other way the problem will never get fixed, why fix something that's not broken?

Edit to add, since it seems people have a hard time reading I'll add the exact words..

Here is my much anticipated update concerning the "suspicious" cards I sent to the PSA President's attention earlier this month. I was told to keep the matter somewhat confidential, so I will not reveal the amount I was reimbursed or the individual cards involved...

I sent in 34 graded minis that were unnaturally short. They arrived at PSA on Monday, July 21st. By Thursday, Joe and the graders concluded that enough of them were odd looking to warrant a complete buy back. Since the prices I paid were in line with SMR, there was no issue and I got what I requested. The check is on its way to me.

I was pleased with the way PSA handled my situation. However, as all of us know, the problem goes WAY beyond those 34 cards.

I think it would be a very good idea for anybody with concerns and some unnaturally short minis to do what I did. Contact Joe Orlando and then send him your shorties! Unless PSA hears from a bunch of us on this topic, things won't get any better. There are literally thousands of bad minis in PSA holders. The top sets on the Registry are undoubtedly LOADED with altered cards. They are easy to spot. Guys, it is your responsibility to make things right and replace those cards.
  • Fandango, dizzle linked the thread before I could get it posted. Check there, and you will find some info..

Again, it's not just one grading company's problem, it the whole hobby's problem. There is no need for bias with just one company. No matter where folks favortism/preference lies in grading, we all should keep an open mind and see it's bigger than just one grading party.

dizzle, that is exactly what i would expect a post of yours to say.....
  • Most likely those cards were graded by the same grader at the same time MISTAKES happen, unless the graders initials are JC.

    //////

There has been alot of controversy about "short-minis," since I can remember.

There have been so many of them for so long - raw and graded - that it seems unlikely
that they all came from a doctor. Some folks have speculated that many of the cards
were simply "cut that way" at TOPPS.

It does trouble me that the math on "diamond-cut" cards allows for a near perfect fit
in the slab, AFTER the card is trimmed a bit,....... AND looks like a 9 or a 10.

It seems a simple fix, BUT it's not. Just as little submiiters cannot be deemed to have
trimmed cards because they submit alot, neither can the big submitters. This is especially
true, if we don't know for sure how many came from the factory "odd looking."

Maybe there should be a moratorium on grading any more of them at PSA for a bit. PSA
could use its contacts to track down some of the folks who produced the cards and
hear what they remember about sizing/cutting.

Clearly, PSA is not going to let collectors get slaughtered on the cards, but if newly
graded cards are adding to the liability-population, there needs to be a limit on
how much risk PSA wants to assume to collect $6/$10 on a slab.

IF PSA ever identifies a serial submitter of "odd cards," PSA needs to address the
issue with the customer. IF such a customer needs to be cut-off, I have no doubt
    that PSA will act responsibly.

    ..................

"Since the prices I paid were in line with SMR, there was no issue and I got what I requested. The check is on its way to me.'

Looks like this part is being fixed as good as any grading company could/would fix it.
