More 'economy' 7070 newps

I know these coins don't measure up to most of the new purchase threads, for most of those threads are about very nice high end coins.
Here is a handful of relatively inexpensive new purchases for my 7070.

And, one dark side coin i'll slip in...

Move the lighting just a little bit and the coin catches it very differently. I've never seen one of these Oregon Commemoratives up close and personal. It is a very high relief design!

Next time, don't be so pessimistic about the coins you show.
I know that some of us don't even have these in our collections
And the others are perfectly respectable.
I saw your dirty French goldie over on the Darkside. I used to have a few of those.
Very Nice Pictures.

You only say that because my scanner died and I can't pull quick pictures of my own new purchases any more. The stuff I have in my 7070 so far makes your set look like Louis Eliasberg's.

It's intimidating. Some of these items; well, I could have waited longer for a nicer item to come by. But I also have a certain amount of time in mind and a certain budget in mind, and i'm not adverse to upgrades. It seems that these sorts of compromises are rarely talked about on this forum. In fact, it's easy to buy the wrong coins. I feel that I have in some cases, but that comes mostly from this forum. I think that may be a good thing; my bar is going up as far as quality.
These coins represent compromises and i'm generally happy with them. I'm going for a fairly broad look with this album and having a great deal of fun. I hope to spend time this weekend getting better photos.
I wish that quarter had a little hole where the ear is. I've seen such nice examples on this board.
The reverse of the dime is sort of mashed. Nice detailed obverse, but the reverse...well, you'll see later.
Anyway, thanks so much for the compliments! I've got a few more coming in soon. Large cents!
I'm not sure what to do. It's not the most expensive coin in my type collection, but I seem to want to give it more respect as if it were more valuable.
I viciously cracked out two gold dollar coins and put them in my Dansco without thinking twice about it.
For now, it sits in its original flip, which has a piece of paper in it saying something like "warning - not for long term storage!"
My type of coins but not my idea of economy coins.

It is obviously superior to the otherwise nice coins around it. Having a quality early piece really makes the 7070 collection look better.
Something about comparing coins side by side in an album is highly satisfying.
NOTE: Not to scale! It's small!
I'll whip out the super-macro lens on that filled-in 'F' on the reverse.
I am having a great deal of fun exploring all of the various kinds of coins for a 7070. So much to learn. So much I don't know.

to half and large cents... always lookin for nice ones. I dont think it matters what others think regarding the quality of ones

as im sure yours are to you. thats whats great about this hobby.

It came from an ANACS 50 'cleaned' slab! I guess they were mostly referring to the front of the coin, but even that has a patina on it.
I normally shy away from coins with damage designations. But in this case, I see nothing wrong that bothers me.
The key to photographing dark copper is to tell the camera to underexpose. It is supposed to be dark, not neutral gray. Most cameras need an adjustment for this.
For the 1803 coin, I took two obverse photographs. One with bottom lighting and one with top lighting to try and emphasize the 'unicorn'.
Lighting placement is critical with coins that have very low relief such as this one. It takes careful light placement to even see that horn coming out of her head. Also, the 1/100 on the reverse is very faint unless lit carefully.
This is my earliest US coin.
I love the crosslet 4.
The reverse of this cent has an interesting light brown patina.
An even more interesting red and caramel patina.
Some of these coins look very...edible!
That's all for the Large Cents in a Dansco 7070!
When I say 'economy', things are relative. You are looking at around $400 or so in large cents here. I could have paid more. Paying less would have probably gotten me a lesser quality. I am very happy with this right now.
PCGS VF25
PCGS VF30, with a remarkable amount of luster left for a 30. Net graded because of the green stuff?
PCGS AU-58. Looks like the camera picked up a die crack.
