1916 matte proof diagnostics... help please!

Does anyone have a link to a thread that explains how to tell a matte proof from a business strike? Or could someone please give me a quick overview of how to tell the two different strikes apart?

"Very little die polish.
Obverse: Die polish between 1 & 9 in date, through UST of TRUST and at WE.
REVERSE: Die polish above PLURIBUS."

If thats the MPL you're talking about, you would never be able to spot the diagnostics in those photos. The 1916 biz strike had some very nice strikes which make it even more difficult to tell from the pics.
