1914 Lincoln in pocket change - no pic

jumped right out at me when i was digging through my pocket change for a soda. No, it wasn't a D mint. And, yes, it was all worn and ciruculated, not even worth a pic. But when these things do happen i always say to myself outloud, "nice find." To me this was an enjoyable collector moment. My only dissapointment was that I caught it on the way out of my pocket when I should have caught it on the way in.

  • The oldest I've found recently, was a 1918-P. I've just put about 50 (mostly 1909-1936) back into circulation, so others should be having similar experiences.

Thanks for doing that....it's a great idea and sure to intrigue someone into becoming a collector!

That's pretty neat. When I find one in circulation, it's almost always from the '40s or 50s, of course. Haven't seen many 'teens and 'twenties in circulation since I was a kid. Twice in recent years I've found rusty steel cents in change, though- once in the penny cup at the convenience store.

A coworker of mine got a 1900 Liberty nickel in change at a gas station about two weeks ago. That's pretty amazing.

That is amazing! Also remarkable that the cashier was able to identify it as a nickel, too. You'd think they'd have pulled it from the till once they noticed the different design!
