The pricing on the Celebration Buffalo is based on the traditional Chinese good luck number 8. The original price was $1018.88. When gold was shooting up in price in March, they pulled the coin from the market and boosted the price by $100. Of course, a week or so after they did this, gold "crashed" down to $900.
