Help with Jefferson value please

coolestcoolest Posts: 2,281 ✭✭✭
Can some experienced Jefferson collectors help me out with a value determination?
I have a 1946-D over horizontal D Jefferson Nickel, MS64. I would like to sell it but I really don’t know how much they are selling for. I would like to ask a relatively low price but I would not want to sell to for $100 if they regularly sell for $500. Has anyone seen any recent auctions for a coin like this?
Thank you
-Ross

    Ross:

That's a rare, high demand, and valuable coin -- particularly if it's in a PCGS holder, because the Set Registry folks want them. Heritage has sold just three of them in that grade:

    NGC-64 last August for $1,265
    PCGS-64 in Feb 2007 for $934
    PCGS-64 in Sept. 2006 for $3,220
    When in doubt, don't.

That's a nice 64, and it didn't miss full steps by much either. When the time does come to sell, try the Buy Sell Trade forum here, there are plenty of Jefferson registry collectors haunting it.
