What a shame

I'm pretty sure this is a small date, and I know it's a proof. And, this isn't what you call target toning. It's more cloudy.

A 1943 copper Lincoln will still only buy a gumball out of the machine, but you can purchase the machine and the store with that same cent.

  • You guys are the experts. I was just guessing. But it's still a shame.

Definitely large date- the 9 is wrong and 'LIBERTY' is too sharp. I see a lot of proof sets from this era with this type of toning (but I agree with you- usually more attractive). I don't think the holders were air-tight at all!

Hard to tell with the glare - but my diagnostics tend to gear toward a 7 even with the date - this one appears to dip.

    And a thicker-in-the-middle "0" - this one looks thin.

    1970-S large.
