why is the 1988 1/10 oz. so much

I just looked the 1988 1/10 oz. gold eagle on the grey sheet and was suprised at eh bid... Why so much?

    It has lowest mintage for the complete series. (not including the collector West Point W mint mark)

    Like some of the other bullion pieces in 1/4 and 1/2 oz. sizes of 1990 & 1991 these were saved into investor funds and the like. They may be arteficially scarce.

    Many new programs hit a low in their third year as the original burst of enthusiasm wears off. Look at 1973 Ikes, 1981 Susie B's, 2002 Sacagaweas.......
