Is this Mantle autograph authentic?

Sorry for my ignorance guys, but just needed some opinions on this auto. I just worry about buying auto's not slabbed.

Mantle Autograph

Also, any ideas what this will go for?

Looks authentic to me too, but I think for the money, you'd be better off finding one that's already slabbed PSA/DNA.

Do a Completed Search on eBay and you'll get a better idea of what you're up against price-wise.

PSA/DNA cut sigs and index cards of Mantle have been under $200, while miscellaneous cards signed by the Mick have been running $350 and up.

I wouldn't take a chance on that 53 Archive Mantle; besides it's already closing in on the $200 mark.

    Just my opinion image

    Good luck!

spend the $8 for psa quick opinion....these typically sell for about $300+ when slabbed, so there is still room for it to be a "good deal".

  • I have an signed Mickey Mantle baseball that I found at an estate sale for $2 but for some reason I am reluctant to sell it. Do you think these will ever go up significantly from $500 I mean he has already passed, he isnt accumulating stats any more and so far he has not been accused of steroid usage

I'd worry about the large number that did slab and are fake. More than you think.

1st of all, would you mind sharing a pic of that $2 Mantle ball?

Secondly, there's never a guarantee and no one knows for sure, but authentic Mantle cards & memorabilia have always withstood the test of time as far as value goes. I can't remember a time, in my 45 years of collecting only Pre-70 Mantle cards, when any of them have gone down in value.

There's been a lot of dirt dumped on the Mick throughout the years and I wouldn't expect anything new to rear its ugly head soon that would affect the price of his memorabilia.

With the helpful opinion of some of the autograph gurus of this board, you might want to post a pic before sending the ball in to be authenticated.

I've never seen a signature of the Mick, wth the "M" in Mantle looking like that.

Unless, Mickey was kickin' a few back prior to signing that ball, I doubt if it's authentic ... but best to get the opinion of others, as maybe someone may have a like signature.

hey fandango...ever think for a second that you might be wrong and just making a big fool of yourself?
  • Well I had one collector a while back say it was authentic and offered $350 for it but I was told they can sell for $500. The picture might have made it look weird because I have compared it to other "authenticated" signatures.
  • Was this the same collector that offered you $15k worth of PSA MAntles for $2500?
  • Here is the appearance of the hijacking troll once again
  • Just in case anyone missed the thread I mentioned, here it is. If he decides to edit his replies, I have them saved.

  • Sorry for the double post, but I believe Gator has already received his answer. PoppaJ has only been on this board a month but his first post was so awesome he has believable credentials for anything regarding Mantle for at least a year or so. If PoppaJ said it was a good auto, then I believe it is too.
  • hypocrite, you throw a fit when I reply to one of your old threads and you do that to me on a daily basis, go drink some more alchohol so you are not in such a b1tchy mood
  • Just got out of the pool because I ran out of beer.
  • well good I like you better when you are drunk which is true with most people in this world
