When did PCGS use white labels?

Are they new or old like the green ones? Sorry if this is a noob question. But, I want to know image

  • I believe the labels in the old rattlers were white or very light green....other than that and maybe sample slabs?....... I haven't seen it before. I have seen Ebay images that make the OGH lables look white although I know some have a yellow appearance.

This site has a good list of the various versions of holders for both PCGS , NGC and other TPG'S sample holders which in general reflect the holders being used at time sample is being given out.

If you take the time and read some of the comments there are some interesting tidbits. For example the version 20.1 sample slab has PCGS's spelling error of Louisiana.

This is a great site for people that collect the slab and not the coin.

  • Some of the green label holders were left in the sun and the labels faded. They can get pretty close to white.

They did use pure white labels for some dealer orders in recent years. I think mainly on the state quarters.

If the slab is exposed to sun light for a while, the sun will bleach the label white. I've seen this on slabs in dealer store display windows.
