Had to come home early. I had to change my plan a little and am not going in the order of the questions. The 1984 cello box came from carsoncitycoins. Opened the box and it has a horrible mildew smell. Opened one pack before I got too upset. Cards seem fine but they stink. The rest came from BBCE. After close examination, I think the 1984 and 1989 Fleer racks have been searched for sequence. Way too many similar cards on the front. Plus, I already cheated a little and opened a few with not even one star or HOF'er from any of them. However, there are a few that will not be opened. Please see scans. I am also going to start with 1986 Topps because they will take the longest.
Also got a few more 1989 Fleers with Mattingly and Ripken on top that will not be opened along with a 1982 Topps cello with Brett on top. Be back later with some of the rip. Probably will be an all night event for me since I have some eBay auctions ending to night too.
OK fine! If you are a big fan of BBCE, please hit the blue arrow or the red "X" at the top of your computer screen. This is not going to be much of an endorsement. As I suspected prior to opening, out of (12) 1984 Fleer I received ZERO cards of Mattingly, Ryan, Ripken, Brett, Rose, Sandberg, Schmidt or Gwynn. 495 cards outof the 11 packs I opened and not a one of the cards mentioned. Now, 1989 Fleer, opened all but 2 packs. 924 chances at a Griffey or Ripken error card, received exactly ZERO. 660 cards in the set. Someone figure out those odds.
To answer question #1, the only HOF'er from the 1979 Topps packs was a Carlton Fisk with a tasty piece of gum stuck to it. Obviously the answer to #'s 3 & 7 is also no.
Haven't finished the 86's yet, but here are two that have a legit shot at 10's. The top and right corner of the Ryan and the bottom right corner of Oz are not damaged. It just looks that way in the scan because of a shadow.
Since no one seems to be watching with Hamilton crushing right now, I will go ahead and throw this one on here from the 82's. Sorry my scanner is dirty and I am too lazy to clean it.
I believe I have answered every question but #'s 5 and 6. Saved the 84 Football for last. Well worth the wait. The answer to #5 is, WOOOOOHHOOOOOO!!! Thank you to 74toppscollector for not paying for your 4 packs!!
Just so no one reads too much into my comments about the Fleer from BBCE, they were loose packs on eBay. I should have know better because I collected these when I was a teen and knew the sequences. Can not tell you how many Mattingly's and Griffey's I pulled out of racks in 1984 and 1989. Guess it was just karma. The sad part about my contest was that Lee and his smartazz answer would have won if he would have just said yes on the Ripken.

I don't think that 86 Ozzie will fit in a holder.
