In God We Trust being moved in 2009 on
With there being about 6 months until the "In god we trust" gets moved from the edges of the presidential dollars to the obverse or reverse does anyone ellse here think this will boost prices for the current presidential errors when this happens next year? I own some Washington and Adams Smooth Edges along with some Adam's doubled edge and I havn't been buying these up for the movement of "in god we trust" to the obverse or reverse, but instead because of the uniqueness and rarity of these errors, however I wonder if the redesign of these coins will cause any significant price appreciation? I was hoping the whole edge inscription would go away and if this were to happen I have no doubt the smooth and double edges would shoot up in price, but with only in god we trust going away I'm not sure if this will have much of an impace on prices.

They do make them by the millions and the early years have the potential of producing higher grades in much larger population quantities.
However, I also do not believe that the placement of the motto has anything to do with the popularity of the coins (at least for the general public) and given the current downward trend in US Mint production due to "zero" demand from the public, I do look forward to some high grade rarieties when the mintages and availability to collectors starts to become limited. 225 million of anything (Adams Dollars mintages) does not see a price increase until 224 million of them disappear into the recycle bins at the US Mint!
Think about it? There are still a good number of folks out there that do not even know the dollar coins exist!

I disagree. The slimball sellers have always been around and will always be here. They move around from product to product. The core of collectors will grow independent of the hucksters. 99.9% of the collectors recognize the slimeballs as slimeballs. don't think that only we members of this forum have magic vision.
The collector base has been growing and will probably continue to grow. The presidential series will probably get more popular as time goes on. Economic cycles generally create excitement as the economy expantds--that probably won't be in 2009.
The one thing that could hurt the collector base in my opinion is releasing too many products by the mint.

Agreed.

Is "slimeball" one word? Should the adjective be separated as in "slime ball sellers" or hyphenated as in "slime-ball sellers"??

That certainly appears to be the case but do the math, the ballista roll folks are only selling presidential dollars for $2.43 each. Granted, their sales speech is totally bogus but remember that there are many folks out there that have NEVER seen a presidential dollar and unless the paper buck goes bye bye, they never will.
Personally, if I could figure out a consistent method to sell presidential dollars, which cost me a buck, for two bucks, and a method I felt comfortable with, I'd do it in a second.
Does that make me a slime ball?

The odds are that you can sell coins one at a time for $ 2.00 more easily than $50 for a roll of 25.
Those guys made an ad up to look rare, exclusive and the like to suck in buyers.
I had a close friend cut out that article out of the paper and asked me what I thought.
Very funny!
And BTW ..You would not be slime ball.

I think it's a mistake as adding extra text on the obverse or reverse just makes clutter.
Have they decided where to put the motto when they move it next year? I'd like to see something like this:

I don't think he is disputing that. He's only saying they will hype the move. You can still disagree but I think it's obvious this move will be hyped.
Yeah I like the motto on the reverse like that too.
