  • Could've happened while the coin was in the holder image

I think PCGS would remove it if it was sent back in while in the holder.

I agree, it probably happened in the holder. If possible, I think PCGS would remove it. I also think you can do better for your money than this particular piece.

Yeah, I think I can do better too. I am looking for an AU piece.

Very possible it changed in the holder, I'm wondering what your question was and his response as Ira did'nt post the Q&A in the auction. I've bought and traded with Ira, he has a good rep in the Lincoln world.

<< <i>Just a question, If you had a coin up on an active auction, would you want someone posting the auction and picking it apart? You could have waited until the auction has closed. If its a fake or a scam that is different. Those we post to save others from being scammed. We should have a little more respect for others active auctions. just my opinion that I have voiced before. >>

I disagree with this line of thought for 3 reasons:

    1. It's been said that any publicity is good publicity and this auction has received more publicity than it would have otherwise. A couple months back HLRC had an 1808(?) Half Cent on its site that a forum member had a problem with and it ended up selling BECAUSE there was such a fuss on the forums about it.
    2. Perhaps the OP is inexperienced with Lincolns and wanted advice before making a substantial purchase. That's one of the purposes of this very forum.
    3. The coin was certainly not being "picked apart." An advantage of bringing an issue up while the coin is still live is that the eBay seller has a chance to reply with his thoughts on this forum and defend his coin if necessary.

  • My guess to would be, it happened while sitting in the holder. Copper is quite the metal to keep control of, lol.

Any reason to be derogatory to our host in the OP? They do guarantee copper.

I agree that the problems should have been listed in the description.

I also think that this should go back to PCGS and they will make it right.

Would it be better for the seller or the buyer to send it back to PCGS?

I have one with a hair in the holder... Not my hair either LOL
    Stuff like that happens.

This one looks that green blob would come off easily.

It didn't happen in the holder, it just wasn't bad enough to keep it from being slabbed.
