Such a Sweet Deal

Well I am trying to buy a beautiful Mickey Mantle collection that many people are after but luckily I live the closest to the seller, but have not received a location nor time. I really hope that I can execute this deal, just look at these cards:

I have a bad feeling about this deal because it seems too good to be true and I have terrible luck

    WHAT IS THE PRICE TAG?
  • VitoCo1972VitoCo1972 Posts: 6,135 ✭✭✭
I would crack and resub about half of those - esp the 54 Bowman, that's a PSA 7. Anyone know where the picture in the 55 Bowman was taken? Must be a long defunct ballpark.

But not the 1952 Bowman or the 1953 Topps, unless you want 5's.

    graded is always nice!
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
  • Well just because you asked nicely, the price tag is 2500. Unfortunately since today is July 4th, I cannot get any cash from the bank so this will delay the deal a bit

If the cards are real, and the price is 2500, they won't be there tomorrow....

    Let me guess, Craigs List?
The second step after learning not to buy cards in third world holders is to make sure you're buying SGC, PSA and BVG cards from a real person who owns the cards they're trying to sell you.

Several of those cards including the 55, 56, 57, 61, and probably more, all just came out of Heritage's May auction.

    Good luck on this one.
  • Thanks guys but like I said this deal is too good to be true and I am not lucky enough to be the triumphant purchaser

Why do I feel a tugging on my leg?

May 08 Heritage sale prices of the exact cards offered to you
    1955 sale price 2868
    1956 sale price 1075
    1961 sale price 956

  • 1952 Bowman PSA 6

Was going to go down the list. Started with the first one and it was there too. Do not feel like searching the rest. Almost 100% sure they all came from Heritage.

BTW, nice handful of thread topics you have started out with here.

    Steve....better a tugging than a hugging
    Topps Baseball-1948, 1951 to 2017
    Bowman Baseball -1948-1955
    Fleer Baseball-1923, 1959-2007

No Arog that is simply not true, however 2500.00 for all those cards is BS.

The 52 Bowman and 53 Topps should go for that alone.

add in ALL the others and if you were in fact told 2500.00 for the lot then
someone is trying to scam you.

You may be unlucky if you go through with this deal.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • Well we shall see, I have said this deal is too good to be true and if the seller and his goons try to mug me, I always keep the good ol peacemaker within reach

More sales from Heritage auctions for exact cards you were offered.
    1957 June 15 2008 $776
    1953 Oct 2007 $1673
    1952 June 8 2008 $1195

    I'm bored.

Just because this is getting out of hand. Look at the auctions we have linked, then the serial numbers. Then say to yourself, "Hmmm, what are the chances that this guy bought all of these cards for $12000 and is now wanting to sell them to me for $2500???"

There, now I feel better if something happens to you....

Corporal Agarn here has been around for about a month, which is a little after Gary got booted, but that statement makes it seem like he and Steve have history. Unfortunately I really think this dope is Gary.

They are nice people when you are willing to actually listen and give their advice and evidence some consideration. It doesn't mean anything to you that all of the cards were sold individually a little bit ago for half of the price of the entire lot?
  • I just mentioned in another thread regarding 89 Fleer Griffetys that I too thought this dude was Gary.
  • nice people eh? Am I supposed to accept that they are accusing me of being a past member who was banned and constantly insulting me with no means to help? This is just a pecking party, once someone like me is injured, everyone just pecks away at me.
  • In another thread you say you have no idea who Gary is but on this one a few minutes later you say you know that Gary is a past member that has been banned?

Edit: Just realized the two posts referred to above are less than 2 minutes apart on 2 different threads
  • Yes at 12:07 i figured out that Gary was banned. Do you guys seriously have nothing better to do with your life than make up conspiracy theories? Get a life
  • Friday July 04, 2008 2:19 PM (NEW!)

    Who is Gary???
  • What is your point? All I know is he was a former member who was banned, I would like to know more about him.

This is so rediculous in every single post you try your hardest to piss me off, as i asked before, don't you have something better to do?
  • Not right now. Just having a few cold ones.

Just trying to show you lied again.

    Aragorn,

you started this post with a quest for suggestive help and opinions ....

and in return you received some pretty good replies ....

then after a bit of research by a couple of clever board members, it appears as if you are either being totally duped,
or that you're making up this whole story.

I'm not judging you, I'm just confused.

Help me understand why you would even think someone would make a deal like this.

Are you that naive or desperate to think no one else would have jumped on the deal before you if it were legit?

The cards would either have to all been stolen from different buyers; or if obtained by one person: he would have to be a complete idiot to want to sell for less than he paid, as mentioned before by 123slider.

And then you mention something to the effect that you're going to take your "good ol peacemaker" with you when picking them up?

Who gets himself into a situation like that????

If I were you, considering your card-collecting tactics, I would stick to eBay or card shows for any future purchases.

Let us know where you stand with your quest for this golden treasure.

  • ok wow we are taking the peacemake comment way too seriously, I am sorry that I offended any liberals
