Retracting Negative Feedback

mrearlygoldmrearlygold Posts: 17,858 ✭✭✭
I gave a negative feedback the other day. It's only the 2nd time I've done it. I think the seller deserved to be slapped but I feel bad about giving a negative and think it was too harsh. He's not a bad seller, just displayed an attitude and didn't do what I paid for. Is there any way to retract a negative? If there is I'd like to do so. How do you do it? Is there a link in which to start the process?

Thanks.

I would go to eBay's home page and click on Live Help and explain the situation to them.

Well, the rep at ebay said yes but the seller will now have to appeal it. I send him the complete communication and hopefully that will happen.

I thought the new policy was no retractions? Yeah, let us know how it goes. I also thought they had the 7 day negative waiting policy as a "cool down" period.......did you wait?

The new EBAY rules give buyers free passes to give negatives. Maybe it is too easy to give a negative now days. Before, with the old rules a buyer had to be really upset to go thru a the neg (because the fear of retaliation).

The fear of a retaliatory neg was never one of my concerns. If the service wasn't satisfactory, and I got the shaft because of something deceptive in the auction, that deserved a neg.

mrearlygold, your gut reaction was probably the right one. Sellers (as well as buyers0 need adjustment from time to time.

When you leave a negative for a seller these days, they have a pop-up screen come up and prompt if you are sure you want to leave a negative. For the first time in 11+ years on eBay, I left a negative for a seller only last week. I waited a week(my decision, not eBay's) before I did the deed. Leaving a negative is pretty consequential, and must be a thoroughly thought out decision and should not be changed. Later on I do NOT regret leaving the negative, in my opin the seller still deserved it. If they appeal it, I will NOT retract it either.
