when does a '78 nickel cost $300+ ???

    I think overpriced at $300. That date can be found cheaper on eBay. I own an MS63RB example of the same date. Still, any off metal error is cool in my book.

    And here I was thinking it was when there's an 18 in front of the 78 and the coin was totally trashed.

    And that's relatively cheap for a 1978 nickel... a 1978 MS66FS coin costs many multiples of that one.

    I still like the off metals though... interesting thought... there are many more off metals than MS66FS graded coins.
