  Well don't we already have the "extra cactus" or some ridiculous find on the AZ quarter? Anyone know if it's on the proofs or just business strikes?

  It's a die crack with a name. It is BS only. Generally there are less proof errors because they are lower mintage and require more care in handling to preserve their surfaces, thus slowing down the process and making it less human error-likely. --Jerry

  Not to mention the 'smooth cactus' arizona quarter on ebay here. It seems the mint doesn't have the desire to maintain quality control the way it used to. I would have thought the proof lincoln's with the disappearing date would have been popular, but they're not.
