FINALLY FINISHED!!! My Date/MM Set of Lincoln Cents with this... 1909-S VDB

lkeneficlkenefic Posts: 8,605 ✭✭✭✭✭
I've literally been working on this set since I was a kid... around 10 years old. The gods smilled... the moons were in phase... the stars aligned... and I coincidently had the cash and the opportunity when this came up:

Thoughts...Impressions... think it will grade at PCGS or NGC?

I've had a complete Lincoln cent collection twice. I keep selling off the S-VDB. Currently, I'm also missing an S-VDB...

    Edited to add: Nice coin!

  • Looks great! I can't tell if it's choice very fine or extremely fine from the pic. What do you think?

I have some nice Lincoln's in 1-1/2" X 1-1/2" cardboard but wonder about a $1K+ coin in them. Any thoughts on that?

Congrats on finishing your set. The coin Gods were smiling! image

Wonder how many Lincoln sets are completed with the 1909 S VDB.

Well... I bought it for VF money and I thought it would at least grade that when I made the purchase. I'm planing on submitting it to PCGS along with my 1914-D which currently resides in ANACS "problem-free" plastic. Normally, I'd never make such a purchase unless it was slabbed. On this occasion, I bought this from my local B&M shop and had coin in hand to make the purchase. Additionally, the people at my local B&M are simply great to work with. This is at least one time when the gods smiled.

The last coin in my Lincoln set was the 27-S, I searched for about three years until I found the right one in XF.

Congratulations on completing a significant set!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Nice VF35 or so. Congrats on the completion! I have two to go myself.

I have no problem believing this. It's taken me almost 10 years now to put together a well-matched EF-AU set and I still have two to go.
