Jefferson Enthusiasts; Why did Compradore retire his sets?

Seems like less than a year that he took over #1 spot in many of the catagories. Corso is now back at #1. Any news on this front? image Shag

    Hey there Shag!
We may never know for sure, but everyone has a point they need to move on. Not sure when that time will be for me. Last week, I just wish my pockets were a little deaper so that I could have gone down just to see the set and maybe take a shot at a few. Not sure who picked up the bulk of the coins. I checked a few of the top nickel guys and they didn't pick up too many. If true, it will be interesting to see if a few new sets start popping in the Registry.
    Hope to catch up soon?

I've been pondering the same. What I got say would be pointless to most here but the guy never posted here TMK. But the interesting thing about krispytoast/compradore (if they are the same unless there was a sale we're or I am not aware of), he was buying 2nd and 3rd examples for many dates. Like he wasn't satisfied with the quality of one, he would buy another, perhaps to improve the quality of the coin, the overall quality of his collection. The guy had 3 highly certified 1942-D/horizontalD coins for pete's sake. Did he like the series that much. One thing for certain, to buy the dupes, he must have been looking at the coins! It will be interesting to see how his sale will affect the PCGS price guide.
I did think the 1957 and 1958-D had extraordinary eye appeal to them although the 57 strike was a tad bit soft. Most of the coins, I couldn't tell due to Heritages poor imaging. They should had shown blow-up shots for all of them. And yes, I did take the time to add up the sales; over $260,000 but this included many dupes and the later set 1971 and up which was a first for a high GPA set.

I sent a pm to him basically asking him the same question... his reply was he had sold the set last year and was oncentrating in Lincolns and some type coins.

BTW, I ended up with 5 of the coins from the auction and was out bid on another 6 or 7. Once he releases the coins, my set will be 100%complete in two or three catagories. I would have been #1 in one catagory if JHF hadn't come along last weekend... image
