<< <i>how do you get the ebay bucks? >>

Ebay bucks adds up pretty quick, I've earned about $270.00 worth so far.

Here's everything you ever wanted and never wanted to know about "ebay bucks" from a direct cut and paste from ebay:

    General

    What is eBay Bucks?
eBay Bucks is a new program that was created to reward loyal eBay shoppers. Participating eBay users will automatically earn rewards in the form of eBay Bucks for their qualifying purchases. The program is currently being tested with a small group of selected users. Participation is currently limited to invitation only, but may expand in the future.
    Enrollment

    May anyone participate?
eBay Bucks is currently invitation-only while the program is tested and refined.

    How do I get invited?
The eBay Bucks program has invited a select group of users for an initial test phase. Due to testing constraints, our initial test can only accommodate a limited number of eBay users. These users have been selected at random.

    Does this program cost anything?
Participation in eBay Bucks is FREE! There is no cost to enroll in the program.

Why do I have to sign-in separately from the eBay.com site?
eBay Bucks requires a separate sign in from your normal eBay.com activity to verify your account and to verify your acceptance of the eBay Bucks Terms and Conditions.

Will I get any unsolicited emails for signing up?
Not at all. Once you enroll, eBay will only send you new emails directly related to the eBay Bucks program. You will receive regular email updates to inform you of your current eBay Bucks balance. You will NOT receive any email outside of the eBay Bucks program as a result of enrolling.
    Earning Rewards

    How do I earn rewards?
Earning rewards is easy! After you enroll, just make qualifying purchases on eBay and you'll automatically earn rewards in the form of eBay Bucks. At the end of the earning period (which runs from May 15, 2008 to August 14, 2008), you'll receive an eBay Bucks coupon in the amount of your earnings (based on the total value of your qualifying eBay purchases).

    What are the rewards?
eBay Bucks provides rewards in the form of an eBay Bucks voucher for a specific dollar amount. eBay Bucks coupons can be used to make purchases on eBay.

Do all my eBay purchases qualify?
Most purchases on eBay qualify. In order for purchases to qualify for rewards, they must be:
    Paid for using Paypal
Payment occurs after enrollment in the program, and between May 15, 2008 and August 14, 2008. Purchases in the following item categories do not qualify:
All categories in Motors (www.motors.ebay.com) (note, Parts & Accessories purchases DO qualify)
    Classifieds
    Real Estate
Business & Industrial Capital Equipment, including the following capital equipment categories and the related subcategories: Agriculture & Forestry > Tractors & Farm Machinery; Construction > Heavy Equipment, Trailers; Food Service & Retail > Concession Trailers & Carts; Healthcare, Lab & Life Science > Imaging & Aesthetics Equipment; Industrial Supply, MRO > Fork Lifts & Other Lifts; Manufacturing & Metalworking > Manufacturing Equipment; Manufacturing & Metalworking > Metalworking Equipment; Office, Printing & Shipping > Commercial Printing Presses.

For how long can I earn rewards?
You can earn rewards from May 15, 2008 to August 14, 2008. Note that only purchases paid for after enrollment are eligible.

Are there any limitations on how much I may earn?
    The following limits apply:
Only up to $10,000 of the purchase price of any one item (excluding tax and shipping fees) will earn eBay Bucks.
Rewards will only be granted for up to $20,000 in total value of all qualifying purchases from May 15, 2008 to Aug 14, 2008.

How do I check my balance?
There are 2 ways to check your eBay Bucks rewards balance:
Sign in to eBay.com and you will see your eBay Bucks rewards balance displayed at the top of the page, next to your User ID.
Sign in the eBay Bucks page: http://rewards.ebay.com
eBay will send you regular email updates with your latest balance.
    Redeeming Rewards

When do I get my reward?
For users that earn rewards, eBay will email a reward coupon which includes a code to redeem rewards. Reward codes will be issued before August 22, 2008. Users may also access their reward code by logging into http://rewards.ebay.com.

How do I redeem my reward?
You will be emailed an eBay Bucks coupon once your reward is ready before August 22, 2008. To redeem your reward, just:
Go to www.eBay.com and log in with the User ID you used to sign up here.
Start shopping. Be sure the seller accepts PayPal.
Pick something you love with a value close to that of your eBay Bucks. (You may use it one time with a single order and a single seller. Any balance is forfeited.)
Pay for your item with PayPal before the expiration date: September 21, 2008 11:59:59 PM PST.
In eBay checkout enter the unique redemption code printed on your coupon.

May I redeem my reward for anything on eBay?
You may redeem your rewards for any qualifying item on eBay.com that accepts PayPal.

How long do I have to redeem my reward?
Your eBay Bucks reward voucher will be good from Aug 22, 2008 to Sept 21, 2008. Any unused rewards will expire at midnight PST on Sept 21, 2008.
    Troubleshooting

    I have 2 accounts - may I combine them?
You can only use 1 account with eBay Bucks. It must be the account you use to sign up for the eBay Bucks program.

I don't have a PayPal account, may I still participate?
Yes. If you have been invited to eBay Buck but do not yet have a PayPal account, you just need to register for a PayPal account in order to participate.

My eBay account is currently suspended, may I still participate?
No, sorry. You are required to have an eBay account in good standing (no hold or suspension) to participate.

I tried to use mine more than once and it only worked the first time.

    It is now at 17%.
  • Any trick to getting invited into the ebay bucks system?
  • It also looks like it only works with "buy it now" ebay items and not true auctions, correct?
  • thunderdanthunderdan Posts: 3,036 ✭✭✭
But, if you have two separate ebay accounts, the 10% should work one time for EACH account, correct?

I just used it and paired it with the eBay 10% eBay coupon on a 1984 Topps USFL Steve Young. If I get this right, the $61 will show up pending tomorrow and then in x amount of day, up to 60, I can then move this money to Pay Pal? Is that correct?

That is still cool. Not sure if the eBay price was good $359.00 for a 1984 Topps USFL Steve Young PSA 9, but pair the discount with the eBay coupon and it dropped $100 off. The card looks centered very well so I think I did alright.

The last 5 PSA 9's have averaged $294, so after all the discounts it looks like you got a good deal.

Nice pick up Lee. That's one of the few Thomas cards I want that I've yet to pick up in any grade. 9s are definitely the way to go.

Bunch- my goal is to sell the two PSA 9s for around $140-$150 each, then crack the 8.5 and put it in my raw set. I'd be essentially getting the raw one I need for free. If either of the 9s could be potential 10s, I'll definitely crack and resubmit.

A few questions after using the cashback and 10% coupon:

    - How long does it take for the funds to show up as pending in my cashback account?
    - It doesn't appear as though I got my 10% from the ebay coupon even though I entered in the code when I made my paypal payment. Was there something else I needed to do?

I think that might be when your ebay email and paypal email don't match up. Just a guess.

It's kicking the 10% out when I log in to paypal to pay for it.

    Sally here.

Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that I'm not very bright...

I buy an item. I get the "claim your cashback" message from eBay.

I click the link, sign up for the live cashback program, add my paypal account.

I still have $0s all the way down.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Should something be showing in pending?

Should I have paid attention in special ed?

    Is my degree worthless?

  • It took one day for the 20% cashback to show up in my account. However, you should get a mail in My Messages in your eBay account.

Yeah, shows 25% for me and then tells me I reached my limit already, which is not true. I have like $80 in credit coming so I am still $170 away. I am hoping it is just "down" or whatever and will work later. (Free money is cool....even if you have to wait 2 months).

Not at all. I've used it twice and have $500 pending in my cashback account. Just have to wait out the 60 days. The max was $750 per user. But, looks like tonight they've suspended it. If I had to guess, though, I'd expect to see it come back very soon.

I bought a 55 Aaron in PSA 8. Check out this deal. $899 minus 10% ebay coupon, minus another 25% for a total of about $584. I'm quite happy about this deal. I bought the card at 11:50 pm just before my ebay coupon expired. Thanks to the original poster for this info about the cash back.

Yeah, those two coupons combined made for some great buy opportunities.

I purchased a 57 topps Clemente PSA 9 from Wayne V for $2375 w/ shipping. Maxed out the MSN coupon @ $250 and another $100 from the ebay coupon got me down to $2,025 net. Probably about as low as I could have hoped to get that card given how popular the 57 set seems to be. Just got the card last night. Gorgeous card in exquisite condition!

teachervido - I was having the same problem, and then effe gave me this solution:

Are you a Time Warner / Road Runner customer? If so, try this (I had the same problem you're having, but this fixed it)

Get CashBack not connecting to live.com

If you're a TWC/RR customer and you're unable to access the Get Cash Back button in My Message to create your account, do this:

    1) Go to http://ww23.rr.com/prefs.php

    2) Select disable redirection (this is the first option - web address redirection service).
