Digital camera question....Canon Powershot SD630

I am borrowing the above camera (since mine broke) to take some pictures of some coins. It has a Digital Macro setting. So, after I take some pictures I go to review them. When the picture is displayed, I am able to zoom in on the image using the zoom function. So, here is my question.......how do I save that zoomed in image? I cant seem to figure out a way to save the zoomed in picture and the owner of the camera is no help. Maybe someone here has an answer for me. Thank you in advance.

Save the picture on your harddrive.

    Zoom and Crop with Software.

    Chaz,
you copy the picture from the camera to your computer
and then you can zoom in, out, crop, adjust, etc on the computer
the camera only saves the original picture on it's memory card

all editing is done on the computer

  • When I zoom in with software, the image becomes blurry. image

Never seen a camera with a cropping feature. You have to download it and then zoom/crop.---Jerry

Many new cameras allow cropping and zooming so that you can edit photos without using a computer.

Then the image really is blurry. You just can't see it on the small camera screen. --Jerry

edit: cause of blurry can be too low resolution, poor focus, poor ligting, or just poor optics. Probably not the latter.

  • I have used a Canon 700is for most of my coin pictures and the results are great. I agree that you cannot crop in-camera and the blurry pictures are just that--blurry pictures. I use the macro setting at minimum focal length (not zoomed) hold the camera (yes hand hold) balanced on my finger tips over the coin and voila! Cropping is done in the computer.

Here's a quickie I took with minimal cropping and natural light....You can do a much better job with some lighting experiments

How do you change the focal length and how do you know what it is currently set at?
