Did Anaconda's coin do better or worse than you..

I still have a hard time getting around at the Heritage web site. Did the coins Anaconda sold bring more or less than you thought they would? Also does anyone have any issues when they go to the Heritage site? As soon as i get there my computer bogs down and the fan comes on like it is really working to pull pages up. I have no problems at any other web site.

I am almost sure I saw this coin in hand some time ago...maybe early in the year? I forget when, but anyway, it is beautifully toned and Anaconda's pics told the true story of what it looked like. Sold for $253. BARGAIN! Anaconda wanted around $600 or $700 for the coin. It is easily worth a $100+ more than the price realized. I know this is but one coin of many, but that's the series I follow.

Only one coin I know of that I looked at on Anaconda's web site before the coins were removed was a 1879-s morgan with great looking toning.
Anaconda had it priced at $800, it sold here at Hertiage for $218.50 with bp.

I was interested in lot 57,, an 1806 large cent in NGC AU58, ex: Reiver. It sold for $4000 in 2005 and Anaconda had it on their website for a little over $6000.

My bid of $4145 was outbid by another internet bidder who won it at $4312 (including Buyer's fee).

I'd be curious to see how much Adrian made or lost on all of these. Seems like he got out when the market for his material is stagnant or waiting for oil prices to drop.

I always thought that Adrian's prices were high to very high, so I'm not surprised the auction results didn't get near the prices he had on his site. However, it wouldn't surprise me if they sold for well above what he paid for them.

I agree he seemed to really like pretty things and priced them so that you had too really, really, really like them to get them from him.

I purused through the PR's of the half dimes to halves and felt the coins fetched very fair prices. Most of the time they brought sheet or more, and in a few instances brought less than CDN bid. In particular the dipped NGC type didn't go as strong as I'd have expected. A MS65 1855-0 half at $5200 was rather weak considering that bid on this is $7600 and you cannot buy an honest gem for probably less than $10,000. A fairly strong $6900 was achieved for a colorful NGC MS64 1838 RE half. These bid for a stupid $3800 and any decent one costs upwards of $5-6K. A PQ 64 is getting close to $10K as MS65's push against $20K. $3700+ for a pretty looking PF67 NGC legend seated dime seemed ok. An MS65 legend obv dime at $665 and a MS65 wm seated quarter at $1350 were under current bid. No doubt they deserved those prices and were much cheaper here than if purchased out of inventory. A CAC PF66 PCGS wm seated quarter at $3700+ was decent money too.

I didn't see any raving bargains nor monster prices in gem seated. A VF25 small eagle half nearly brought $70K which seemed good. Some of the NGC MS65 bust halves (2 overdates) fetched in the high $6's to mid 8's which indicated they were closer to 65 than to 64. It wasn't too long ago that crappy looking MS65's could fetch under $5K. Now those fetch around $6K while the true gems are over $10K.

Overall I felt they did better than I thought they would, especially in this smaller, early-summer venue. There was no fire sale here and seated type coins that brought under bid looked to be dipped, washed out, or lucky to be graded as they were.

But all their prices were negotiable.
