Since the publication of the new catalog, has there been an increase in the numbers of SCDs showing up at shows?image

    Not that I've seen. At Baltimore, there weren't many that I saw. The guys that always have them had them. A few other people did, but given their prices, the book didn't help them. Got a rip or two. image

    Do they tend to be raw or graded?

    Those that I have seen at local shows, usually in NGC plastic, seem to be fully priced. It looks like the word about SCDs has spread to the masses.
    All glory is fleeting.

    NGC seems to be slabbing many more medals that seem to qualify as SCDs but are unlisted. I'm not sure if more of these are showing up but the ones that show up in NGC slabs have higher prices.

    NGC is also slabbing many more SCHDs/SC50Cs.

    Yes, NGC plastic gets more money, without question. NGC does slab stuff not listed but qualifies, as you can see a lot of post-'64 stuff in NGC holders. And yes, they are doing some SC 50 cent peices.

    I typically try to buy raw if I can find it, but that's not always the case. If it's something I really want, I'll buy the plastic. Rarity plays a big factor.

    This whole area is expanding very quickly

    FYI - NGC plans to expand the Census Reports in the future with CS 50 cent pieces, U.S. Mint Medals, additional SCD's beyond the H & K's and also my So-called $50 Facsimiles. I believe they are also recording / working on the California Gold Charms and Harts Coins of the West series.

    I have found that a lot of garbage is now coming on the market.

    Fudged photos to cover marks, dinged rims and really worn pieces.

    It seems that the novices are going to be plucked again. It is getting

    harder to find top quality pieces at reasonable prices. Folks are pricing

    them at next years prices. I am glad I got many of the rare ones

    before the new book came out.
