Do you know any deep pocketed collectors who collect coins merely to acquire new trophies...........

............ and who quickly lose interest in the acquired coins?

For example: a person who spends substantial money to buy a completed collection of MS Morgans, who puts the collection in a Safe Deposit Box upon acquiring the collection, who looks at the collection only once and who sells the collection the following year.

I have no doubt these types of collectors who collect trophies just because they can exist. I suspect that the hobby does not give these types of collectors much enjoyment.

    Yes, me!

Every coin I collect is a "new trophy" however my pockets usually stop at about my hip bone!

Other's pockets go all the way to their toes!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I don't know any personally, but know of them in the numismatic community. However, I would not call them "collectors". Most would know little about the coins they have purchased, would want to buy trophy coins only, and would not be patient enough to build a quality collection over a long period of time.

Not much enjoyment looking at your coins once a year.
I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

Certainly we all hear about such people, but I honestly don't know any of them.

Since that specific buyer remains anonomous, this is a question that cannot be answered.

However, I wonder if he/she has lawyers submitting idea's to the US Government on how to prevent the latest 10 eagles from getting monetized as it would represent a loss for his "investment" dollar.
