Coin shops in San Jose/San Francisco

I'm going to be in this area next week, and was wondering if there were any dealers worth visiting. As far as I know there aren't any shows between July 1st and 10th (when I'm going to be there) but if anybody knows of one, please let me know.

That's a large stretch of land. Are you going to be in both areas?

I have not visited many recently; there used to be more.

In the San Jose area, i've had a good experience at Falcone Jewelry and Coins in Willow Glen. That's a little to the southwest of downtown San Jose. It's on Lincoln.

There is another shop on Meridian Ave that I was not as happy with. But i've only visited it once and perhaps the owner was having a bad day.

San Francisco is more than an hours drive away! Hopefully someone else knows of the places to go there.

Yea, I'm going to be in San Jose for three or four days, then we're heading to San Francisco.

Once you get in town check the yellow pages. Basically all of the coin shops in San Jose, San Francisco and cities in between the two have some sort of listing in the yellow pages. You should also check this website under the link for "authorized dealers" and you should find a few results.

The city proper of San Jose has a few coin shops while San Francisco has three. There's one on Market Street in the Financial District, another in the Mission, and one near Ocean Beach. There are also a few shops on the peninsula.

I 2nd the recommendation for Falcone on Lincoln ave in San Jose. Coin Broker in Palo Alto on El Camino right by Stanford University is well represented. About 20 minutes North of SJ.

In San Francisco I would recommend Witter Coins. He's located on the 14th floor of the Hobart Building on Market Street which is right in the financial district. There are other shops I can think of, but I don't have enough experience with them to evaluate them.

Between San Francisco and San Jose on the penninsula there are a few shops worth visiting. Mish International in Menlo Park has some nice stuff, although Mac's Coins in Sunnyvale has a hard time maintaining his posted hours though the guy's a nice guy if you actually find him open. The Coin Broker in Palo Alto has some nice coins but the prices tend to be very high.

In San Jose, Falcone's on Lincoln Avenue in the Willow Glen neighborhood is worth visiting. The owner is a nice guy but his prices can be high at times. There is also another coin shop (Vic's Coins) a few hundred feet away but they don't seem to carry nice coins.

Do not bother with visiting San Jose Coin Shop. Just like a previous post mentioned, the guy who owns the place is an absolute jerk. You'll sense it when and if he actually acknowledges you when you walk in to his shop.
