MTG Alpha PSA 9 Birds of Paradise

Hello all!

A quick question ... what does the collective wisdom think is the value of a PSA 9 Alpha Bird of Paradise? This is one of the last "big" cards I need to upgrade in my set and I'm wondering what I should be looking to part with to get it.

    Hey Michael,

    My best guess would be in the $300 range if you REALLY must have the upgrade image

    Anything more than that and you are getting screwed over by the seller unless the card is MUCH better centered than the average Bird.

    I REALLY must have the upgrade ... but I was thinking around 50% more than a PSA 8 which isn't a million miles off $300 (maybe a bit less) so that's pretty much consistent with where I was at! Great to have the confirmation that I wasn't complete off track though - thanks!

    (Anyone else feel free to chime in if you disagree one way or the other!)

    card is sold to buyer for $825.00 US.

    International buyers love this card.

    Nah Michael, he likely emailed him using an alias's and told them he had the card for sale.

    His typical mode of operation is to have some unknown entity offer the card for XXXX and then come back as himself when the customer balks at the first inflated price. Who this time Dan? Mike Reilly? Someone from ActionSportsOverstock? Honestly, I'm likely getting behind on banning all your extra Ebay account names so feel free to let me know if you have had to start any new ones as people find out your little secret so I can add them.

    He tried the exact same thing with me with a 1 of 1 card in person and I told him his offer was waaay out of line (PSA 10 Royal Assassin) I offered $600 but he would not budge for less than $900. Coupla days later, his alter ego, Mike Reilly, emails me up and wants to sell me the 1 of 1 Assassin for "just" $750, figuring I'd be happy to split the difference. Guess he forgot that there was only 1 of the card at the time so it was easy for me to put 2 and 2 together and figure out the scheme he had going. I traced the IP address he was using under the guise of "Mike Reilly" and low and behold, it was exactly the same that he was sending mail from as himself. When we spoke on the phone about this the excuses flew about how this was his business partner and they worked in the same building, sharing inventory. Of course when I requested to speak to "Mike" he up and vanished, never to be heard from again. Best part was I would have been more than happy to pay a fair price for the card yet because I waited, I was able to buy one from DACW for $180! I also notice Dan still has his copy listed in his set, guess you should have taken the cash offered, LOL.

    Truth be told, he likely never even sold the card and is just blowing smoke out his butt in an attempt to manipulate his prices. It's eerily familiar to his "supposed" sales of 1986/87 BKB cards where he claimed record prices but won't show proof of any transactions.

    Honestly, why any of the MTG registry collectors continue to deal with this guy is beyond me but hey, to each his own.

    what are you talking about? Excessive?

    i offered you the card and lowered my price 100 dollars, i said the offer is good for a few days. I had other offers, but held them as you emailed me your list of cards you wanted to fulfill. i gave you a lowered price because of past dealings.

    you never emailed so i had another buyer willing to pay more.

    as for the worth of the card, that's the opinion of the consumers what they want to pay.

    there is no price guide to these collectibles. Don't be upset that my dealings with you have always been fair - like your recall psa 9 alpha, i sold it to you fairly.

    business is business, so just because you wouldn't pay the price tag, and missed out on a card in your set, don't accuse me of charging you too much!

    your a good buyer, and I hate to lose your business but that is your choice.
