Are the black spots on Lincolns the Mint fighting collectors from circulation?

Ending bulk hoarding or these coins "Since they all got spots" You realize without that spotting issue you could pluck out the 69's and 68's like a breeze. So the mint booby traps them with this spray and they laugh behind closed doors since now no serious collectors are stocking away bricks of new cents....for future gain and investment...cause they are all spoTted

It will be a real SIN if they plow on into 2009 with theses special commerative lincolns,....and they spray that black spot stuff on them


It would be interesting to get an offiicial Mint response to this spotting situation, and how they intend to correct it.

    Amazing... I have never seen this degree of paranoia in any other hobby..... It is just incomprehensible to me how anyone could even hypothesize such a thing. Cheers, RickO

    Pluck out 68's and 9's..........ummmm I don't think so! I've been through 15,000+ 2008's and have not seen anything near a 69 from rolls even w/o spots.

    These zinc slugs "tumble plated" with copper are time bombs. I don't know why PCGS even certifies them since they
    carry no insurance policy for these things turning in the slab (they pay claims out of current earnings, according to their
    10k)

    my guess is that the mint could not care less if business strike cents,or any other denomination, had water spots
    or any other `minor imperfections`
    and they probably would be the first to state that that is why they make proof sets anyway.

    its a cruel numismatic world i know but, what can you do.

    uhhh didnt the mint do away with mint marks for awhile in the 60's and still dosent use the W on the cent....just to discourge collectors?
